This is actually a pretty sweet Ukrainian psychological operation.

Russia is suppressing information about losses and refusing to allow media to print stories about dead or captured soldiers.

So Ukraine is weaponizing Russian families to get information into Russia. They get the social media or messaging sn of family members from the soldiers, have the soldiers speak to their families and tell them how terrible their war effort was ("I've been captured! All my friends are dead! We didn't even know Putin was sending us to war!"). At the same time they share they're being treated okay and Ukrainians are treating them well. Family spreads the news to their family and friends and it goes viral. Multiply this by 1000 captured Russian soldiers and you can imagine the propaganda benefit.

There are darker aspects too - like Russia has refused to help Ukraine identify remains so there's a whole social media channel just showing dead Russian bodies with people asking Russian families to come take a look and see if they know anyone. (And other anti-Russia people taking a look and commenting some...uh...not nice things.)

Altogether it's designed to create unrest in Russia, to accentuate the Russians losses and Russian failures while putting Ukraine in a sympathetic light. This is having a HUGE impact in a Russia where the press is completely controlled by the state.

if you back in history I def do agree with russia that nato and its allies didnt follow trough on the terms and kept pushing east which was stupid and greedy for all parties
