Been reading Up From Slavery the last week or so. Incredible book man, I see a lot of myself in Booker T. Washington.

A lot of these books are free on Amazon Kindle too.

:wow:The Book of all books...should be required reading for everyone; that at Black Jacobins

I really need to get that book. Dr. Clarke pretty much said if you can't call yourself black if you haven't read that book

Out of curiosity can you drop some notes from the "foods to avoid" section
Avoid: candy, sugar, black pepper, butter/margarine, cheese, ice cream, salt
Substitutes: fruit bars, cayenne, raw almond, rice cheese, rice cream, kelp

A few examples

The book is flame

:wow:

any books for young black guys (19-22) such as myself to read? i want to read something that is useful and simple to read, then read something that is more advance/helpful in the process. any recommendations?

Going through this one right now as well, some pretty useful techniques I've found here that have improved my reading skills in just a short amount of time and made it more fun in the process. Different tests in each section that test your reading pace (words per min) and comprehension skills, I didnt realize how slow of a reader I was before picking up this book.

is this book for advance people that helps retain their knowledge on reading or for intermediates?

It's for any level reader but will help with retention as well. The first chapter tests your reading speed and comprehension then the remaining chapters all go over various reading techniques and habits that slow you down, with additional tests so you can gauge your progress as you go on.
