What are some good recommendations in the areas of money/success/entrepreneurship/finance and autobiographies?

Thanks. Coincidentally, I saw a few of these today while reading a Business Insider article. http://www.businessinsider.com/books-to-read-to-get-rich-2015-5

What do you do that made you read these books? Or is it just for pleasure?

It wasn't so much what I do that was the catalyst for me reading these books as much as it was the pursuit of knowledge and a better life that really motivated me to grow in all facets of life. But part of my community activism involves being around politicians and businessmen, and they've dropped alot of gems on me that have contributed to my personal growth. But if I can pin point the match that lit the fire under me, I would say it would have to be the autobiography of Malcolm X.

@kp404 I picked up Black Skin White Masks and Wretched of the Earth off the strength of your recommendation and began reading the former today. From what I gather so far its been written on the Antillean experience but easy to see how applicable it is across borders, enjoyable read through 2 chapters, may even have to re-read to fully digest but I'll drop more thoughts once I finish it.

great update homie. Black Skin, White Masks is amazing, but Wretched of the Earth is one of my top 5 Books of all time. Like you said, it can be applied to so many spaces both in history and today. I'm glad you are enjoying and I hope you continue to enjoy.

Great thread.

I'm currently reading

It describes how successive governments in history have acted against their own interest despite having available options as well as the knowledge that this course of action is not working/will not work. She calls this folly.

Going through this one right now as well, some pretty useful techniques I've found here that have improved my reading skills in just a short amount of time and made it more fun in the process. Different tests in each section that test your reading pace (words per min) and comprehension skills, I didnt realize how slow of a reader I was before picking up this book.

Just finished " The Burning" about Tulsa's Black Wall Street riots and "I know why the cage bird sings"

I'm working on "misadventures of awkward black girl" by Issa Rae

After that I really need to finish "The autobiography of Malcolm X" and "the girl that fell from the sky"
