Why do you expect better from Michael Harriott? Most of his articles I've read in the past, were sassy, passive-aggressive trash.

Because unlike Damon Young, who spends his time angry at straight black men and who probably writes more hyperbolic critiques of black men than he's ever written genuine critiques of white people, Harriot usually spends his time pointing out the way in which white women practice white supremacy from a place of safety that isn't questioned, I guess. I don't read The Root every day, but that's typically what I see when I read there. I read a few different black publications (I like to see the variety of thought even if I don't agree with all of it).

I don't see why it's a bad word. Transgender people exist and have existed forever. It is what it is. We need a way to describe people who aren't transgender that is short and easy to say.
