I'll never understand wrestling's fans obsession with ratings. Especially ratings that aren't moving the needle in the slightest bit when its all said and done. 2.8 to 3.1 aint shyt. Who gives a fukk? It always be used has an argument by one stan when he cant properly defend his hero to another stan. The only reason a "ratings" discussion is warranted is when we're talking record ratings are big big significant jump. If this raw drew in the 5's and 6's, then yeah, lets discuss. But we talking bout .3-.4 jumps.
I think the ratings last night is just another indicator just how far the wrestling business has gone down on the mainstream front. Even with the most recognizable star to come out the business, imo, it still cant move the needle.
Oh well, Im just gonna sit back and enjoy the fukkery.
Simple. There are wrestling fans on here that are slaves to the product (they know who they are) so discussing ratings, good or bad is all fun and games.
The 3.1 isn't the problem. The 3.1 being paraded as some sort of victory for wrestling is the sad part. Wrestling's dying brehs.

Yup and when there's no competition and the much anticipated return of the biggest star in the business draws a 1995-era rating, that's a clear indictment of the industry as a whole, which is the only clear conclusion you can draw. Bickering over one guy's quarter hour doing .2 better than another's is just irrelevant wrestlefakkitry.
When I do post in ratings threads I'm usually repeating the same thing hoping it sticks.

Ratings and buyrates are still important. Maybe not the absolute number, but certainly the trend.
IE: If it's dropping and dropping you can't spin it and tell me that it's no big deal and that WWE ain't worried.

I'll assume that nobody on this forum is in the WWE, so ratings have no affect on anybody here, but ratings affect the WWE. But, you must care about ratings to always post in ratings threads.
I don't "hate" that Punk held the title for a year, because I, like many others as evidenced by the ratings, rarely watch WWE. I just think he's overrated.
How did that thread backfire? I was expecting some people to disagree, and in that thread some people agreed with me.
3.1 isn't bad considering they were up against the second most watched show in history. I think next week would be a better indicator of how much of a ratings booster Rock is.

Maybe that and a couple of reasons, him being made to clearly look/seem second/third/fourth best (not headlining PPVS the first half of his reign), week booking until recent months, Bryan being good if not better, it being made clearly that HHH and friends can just run in like roaches and make it all about them AGAIN, you know shyt like that
Look at what they have on top and how they do feuds. And it's easy to see. Not a shame. When you cater to have John Cena as your best, you're gonna lose money and be looked at as second rate no matter what.
i noticed this the other day while playing wwe 13, they have that ratings timeline between matches. brehs back in 99 they were throwing up 5's and 6's like you read about.
And including the Nitro rating the whole wrestling audience between 9pm and 11pm on Mondays was 10s
