No he wasn't. No one has or ever will give a single shyt about anything he did or will do outside of it. Hulk Hogan is synonymous with wrestling, with the WWF, but that's where it stops. People who haven't watched a second of wrestling know who The Rock is. The man has starred in TWO movies that have done over a billion in the global office and is about to go into his third season on a popular HBO serial. His reach is eons beyond Hogan's.

Samuel L Jackson has a thousand movies with a bunch of other stars in it. Is he the biggest movie star of all time too? In 1987, most people had 5 channels, so stars back then are much bigger cultural phenomenons in general than they are today. See Hogan-Andre match doing 33 million viewers for a taped SNME.
They both transcended wrestling. If we are just talking wrestling it's hard to say Hogan isn't the guy but if you're talking overall it's a diff ball game

With movies I agree with you, but Pop Culture, naw. Hulk is a Global Pop Icon, Hulkamania had a 6 year run on Pop Culture in the 80's. Hogan was visiting sick hospitals and shyt, kids across the world talking about how they prey and eat their vitamins, MTV and shyt.
