I mean brehs in here talking about since the PS5 has "no power" meaning that the games will look bad compared to Xbox when Sony always pushes the limit of the system. Just look at what the Decima Engine can do on a base PS4, imagine that shyt on a PS5.

IF you're a gamer, I really, REALLY struggle to see
how anyone can hate the value Microsoft is bringing to the table with
their next machine.

You'll be able to bring a huge library of games with you, they're guaranteed to look & run better
AND you'll have a considerably beefy set up for the next generation of games.

The best thing is the focus on improved load times in most cases the Xbox Series X AND The PS5 will
completely top PC in their ability to move data from storage to RAM.


With that said this is where all the boats rise (the new baseline will be PS5...) I just wish the baseline was considerably higher.

Microsoft is definitely in a good position going into next gen..


All they need are a bunch of 1st party exclusives.

That presentation was disappointing.

It was a tech deep dive that didn’t say anything new about the architecture, and had a significant portion on audio advancements that no one asked for. He said that when he goes around to development houses asking what people want in next gen consoles audio never came up. He said he barely spoke to any audio engineers since they represent a small portion of the team...and then decides to dedicate a powerful audio chip for these probably understaffed and overworked people to layer hundreds of sounds at a time.

1st party games will probably sound good, but the majority of games will sound exactly like PC/Xbox games.

Overall, PS5 specs are underwhelming. With 448GBps of memory bandwidth, im doubting how well it will do 4K at 60 fps. The SSD is being bottlenecked by the RAM amount and memory bandwidth. The SSD is gonna be good for very short load times, but when one loads at 5-6 seconds and the other does 1-3 seconds...who cares.

And just the lack of awareness of it all. It was the first official showing by Sony (promoted on their social media channels, streamed to their consumer youtube channel) and they didnt even have a tech demo or a video of a game loading(or not loading) or any of the tech in action.

Outside of the fast SSD, it was an hour long presentation on cost cutting and trying to justify it.

I was and still am very disappointed.

I know that. They're both running at a dynamic resolution but the X1X runs at a higher dynamic res but the performance suffers. People can't talk about "performance!" but ready to excuse it because of a small res boost.

I didn't say it generally performs "50%" faster, I said there are times where it does.
It's not even a matter of opinion. Don't use Digital Foundry as a source when there are several videos and articles proving my point !

I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of people talking about performance but when their favorite platform isn't performing as well they suddenly are fine with lower framerates "because the resolution is higher." No need to tell me about this, I'm WELL aware of higher res taxing performance. I have a gaming PC, I literally deal with this every day so no sense in telling me about this.

Again, on paper this is nice but let's be real, the "50%" is generally in regards to resolution and what I'm trying to posit is that this was with mid-gen refreshes on older architecture. Adding in performance is funny because a lot of these games had capped framerates so "better" performance was most of time negligble. A game that's 30fps capped is also 30fps on PS4 so that performance boost went into the resolution which sometimes wasn't even full 4K.

A PS5/XsX is not in that realm so the difference will be smaller as these new devices are more than sufficient enough to handle 4K gaming so the differences will be in things not as big as resolution or framerate since now the CPU's are well in line with each other and are WAY better than the trash Jaguar. The constant downplaying of the PS5 SSD is easy to see. Like people are acting like the PS5 is this pathetically weak console because the Xbox is more powerful. It's so dishonest but the minute you point that out they pull the "i have both" card.

Xbox One had 40% less TF than PS4.
Xbox One had 6% higher clocks than PS4.

PS5 has 16% less TF than XsX.
PS5 has 22% higher clocks than XsX.

The difference this time will be way smaller than the PS4 Pro and Xbox 1 X but people online are trying their hardest to convince cats that this will be some huge life changing difference.

I'm watching the Ps5 reveal on my Ps4 Pro which is right next to my Xbox One X.
I've got no horse in this race as far as being biased or whatever and I can most likely
afford either console about ten times over so I'll have the one I want most paid
off before it even drops.

I don't need to scour DF to know this. Again, I'm aware of this but in actuality it hardly bothers me since I already know what level of fidelity is possible with a PS5 to an extent and it's not this PS4 Pro/X1X difference we're looking at. Mathematically it's a smaller difference than the Pro and 1X but yet people ignorantly assume it's about to be 8K/120fps games and 1800P/36fps games on PS5. Like anyone who thinks that is clearly out of their mind and literally can be got. I have both an Xbox One s and PS4, I prefer Sony as they historically have dropped a wide variety of games on their platforms vs Xbox.

No matter what Sony will still have Xbox beat worldwide. But Microsoft is going to give Sony that work in North America. They got the power they got gamepass and if they got a good price point it's a wrap. I'm usually a Sony Stan but I'll admit its time for Sony to get humbled with the shyt they been doing lately.

If both are the same price, I do agree the race will be close.

I do think sales will be closer, esp in the states, but we really need to get off this pipedream that the Xbox is gonna outsell the Playstation. It is what it is.

We’re studying Mark Cerny structure specs course, and like I stated before, and y’all know already the guy is a genius.
He is like Steve Jobs or Telsa in the terms of astonishing logical thinking, he’s sometimes hard to understand but incepting what he is saying is, the PlayStation 5 isn’t a bottleneck this thing will be very very fast, and can basically run data at speeds just off the IO wit the raw data. Meaning open world games and games that require large scaling, will run faster on Ps5. We can’t just judge off of the CPU and GPU of the Xbox series X, it could be a bottleneck because Microsoft did put it in a PC Box. Lol let’s the games continue. Either way good times ahead. Buy both buy one. Idc lol
