We past 24 hours and they STILL haven't cleared this backwards compatibility shyt up

And they being quiet on purpose.....

They already know the only 100 games shyt is true and just trying to glide over that shyt
From how I interpreted it and I see DF wrote it the same way, the 100 games stuff is for games that will get a boost using the PS5 hardware. The other games outside of that will be games that run the same as if it was playing on PS4 Pro or PS4.

PS5 will support backwards compatibility with seemingly all PS4 games, due to it being "based in part on the PS4's architecture." The performance boost of the PS5 is so significant, however, that these games will need testing. Sony has said that the majority of the top 100 most played games are working, so expect support for the biggest PS4 titles at launch.

So i expect the top games(according to playtime they said) to be all the COD games, 2K, Fortnite, Apex, BF, F2P stuff, Fifa, Minecraft etc. I also expect the exclusives dropping now to be supported such as Dreams, Persona 5 Royal, TLOU 2, FFVII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima and hopefully past exclusives. They also confirmed PSVR support with the PS5 so I can't imagine a scenario where the headset is supported but the games aren't so that's why I think the PS5 native mode for BC is what they're referring to for the top 100 games.

Now what I'm concerned about is this is just a simple "boost" that will simply allow dynamic resolution games to hit their full resolution 100% of the time and unlocked framerates to jump to 60 or higher(since the PS5 supports VRR). That in of itself is fine but I hope devs make specific patches to enhance the graphical quality and stuff similar to how Gears 5 for example is doing. We know Cyberpunk will have a XsX version to download with smart delivery so is there something like that on PS5? Rainbow Six Siege was confirmed to be "coming" to next gen consoles so is that actually going to be specifically enhanced or is it just going to be "boosted"? It's still early so this may be answered when their real console reveal happens.

Edit: Actually we may get enhanced versions of the game if we go by the leaked footage of them comparing Spider-Man on PS5 to PS4 Pro.

:whoo: The city fly through and assets load in was instant.

Not true.

UPDATE: A quick update on backward compatibility – With all of the amazing games in PS4’s catalog, we’ve devoted significant efforts to enable our fans to play their favorites on PS5. We believe that the overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 titles will be playable on PS5.

We’re expecting backward compatible titles will run at a boosted frequency on PS5 so that they can benefit from higher or more stable frame rates and potentially higher resolutions. We’re currently evaluating games on a title-by-title basis to spot any issues that need adjustment from the original software developers.

In his presentation, Mark Cerny provided a snapshot into the Top 100 most-played PS4 titles, demonstrating how well our backward compatibility efforts are going. We have already tested hundreds of titles and are preparing to test thousands more as we move toward launch. We will provide updates on backward compatibility, along with much more PS5 news, in the months ahead. Stay tuned!
It was clear Cerny said the top 100 games would be playing in PS5 native mode and the rest added afterwards but everything else would work. Some folks just deliberately wanted to spread misinformation imo.

Basically...

LBOX nikkas in here bragging about power with a gaming library of Halo 45, Gears of War 15 and upscaled 360 games...:russ:

Backwards compatibility is a nice BONUS feature...but nobody copping a new system to play upscaled 15 year old games...

We cop NEW systems to play NEW games and SONY got all the game franchises that matter...

PC/SONY gang stay winning...

Ya'll really sitting around playing PS1 and PS2 games? :gucci:
It's principle breh. For one, you cannot tell me these systems aren't strong enough to emulate PS1/2 games. They already have emulators written.

2, they made ppl buy ps classics and them shyts stuck in purgatory as ps1 classics don’t work on ps4. Some ps2 classics have been ported over to PS4 but I'm pretty sure you have to re purchase them, even if you already bought them on PS3.

3, Microsoft, who has was less revered legacy content imo, has damn near every game in the Xbox history working out the gate.

i get it’s not a priority or a deal breaker for most ppl. It it’s still a bad look imo. Hopefully we get some news closer to release on legacy support.

Fellow PS brehs who care, dont be shocked if PS5 doesnt support variable refresh rate/freesync or auto low latency mode.

The way Microsoft words it, they were the ones who were influential in getting those features a part of the HDMI 2.1 standard and they ‘enable it’ for Xbox.

So far, Sony has made no mention of either at all and some of their flagship 2020 TVs dont support HDMI 2.1. The writing(or lack thereof) is on the wall.

I have had all PS systems but they are greedy and not consumer first. It is not surprising

Do we know if a person buys Last of Us 2 on PS4... Will they get the PS5 version free?

Or will they only get a backwards compatible version on the PS5?

Worst case it's cross gen (more than likely to be honest). IF they push it back, I might just wait on the 5 version.

The official PS5 specs page on the Playstation blog literally states it supports VRR and HDMI 2.1.
