At 31 it wouldn't be the smartest idea for me to hard-spar consistently , I love combat and sure I could do it but uppercuts got a lil more impact nowadays plus my thing was to always go for liver shot body ko when nikkas tried that gym war shyt

Better to shadowbox situational spar or throw gloves on and have a 9 minute friendly
Y'all are advanced so u know that heavybag padwork shyt is good for training but bad for fighting if u do it too much.
Also the last two fights I had was getting jumped on broad street ATL got orbital fracture came back and hurt ppl *allegedly then spending 6 months drilling 52 (basically fighting inside cell w dude who taught me all this shyt... I was a muay Thai/boxing guy b4 that

really my problem w martial arts is in the warrior days they was on that respect shyt now if u defend ya Self once its more than 3 attackers u kinda fukked unless you're Jason Bourne but that's a movie .like I remember one person grabbed my shirt I clinched kneed him punched someone else tried to throw a low kick got leg pulled and got kicked in the face on the way down b4 police rolled up

With what I know now I'm not tryna fight to "defend myself" or for fun a nikka hit me I might have a razor between fingers to slap him off the planet with gashed up face . Nothing fun about a gloved finger in ya ass at hospital to check ya muscle tone on arrival or that dye they shot in me to check for broken shyt that makes you piss on yourself and it won't happen again

So I figure I'd post here though thread seems dead a bit. Anybody got good youtube vid for a rookie ? Just fundamentals no fancy stuff.

Been in a boxing gym for two weeks and would like advice. The gym has plenty of people so it's a bit complicated to get custom advices (though I'm sure there will be less people by October considering the past two weeks lessons were free/discover sessions. Am looking at advice about footwork, movement and upperbody movement (if there are good vids for southpaws, I'm taking too). Not looking at punch technique, this'll come later.

Handwraps always, i do muay thai KB so my advice my not translate as well. But good gloves for the heavy bag. Dont drop your hands or bring it back when punching. It telegraphs it to much. Unless your opponent is shelling up then go for that kill. Trust your coaches and make sure they have some good credentials.

trying to get my brain to focus on punching and kicking together instead of one or the other.... I guess it's a muscle memory thing since I'm not used to working knees and kicks.....just doing light drilling, working on form and sparring every couple of weeks waiting for my thai shin pads from amazon my whole shyt bruised :beli:
