Yes 16s have a bit more cushion, but 14s aren't bad either
pads and bags already have padding so how much padding do your hands need to have? i have never hurt my hands. and i hit big heavy bags. but i have big hands and i can make a true fist. i guess everybody has different hands. but never go big just to go big.
