I'm looking to practice liver shots specifically making sure rotation is there, place is correct and considering setups

Thoughts?

I used to have a form very similar. Then I was taught if you focus offense drills (like I was doing) then try and focus defense drills (like I was doing as well) and eventually merge the two you will just get knocked out. So I had to start blending them together so that the defense started to become a natural part of the offense.
Your punches right now consist of a foward extension of the arm and a pull back of the arm and you consider that a complete punch much like 99% of the world and like I did at first. But if you look at a pro fighter what they consider a single punch consists of an extension, the pull back of the arm, and either a head weave or a duck or sometype of manuever to prevent themselves from being counterpunched. They don't consider the punch complete until the feint is added, all three steps need to be there for them to consider it complete, no different than if you threw an extension and left your arm hanging out. Its not complete in your eyes now without the sencond step (pulling your arm back) so once you get into your mind that its just as incomplete without the third step (head movement at the end) you will be in much better shape in a real fight.

All that is just drill stuff I learned tho. As for the liver specifics idk... thats not in my knowledgebase enough to speak on.

Thanks for the input

For everyone else don't be afraid to say something else, the thing about seeing and spotting issues is making sure its brought up. Don't be afraid to spot things out be it in the thread or dm. We appreciate help or at least I do I am open to all opinions as long as it is constructive and you can give me ideas then I can focus and try and see if it helps.

You all have something unique to bring just by simply watching so please bring your opinions it will help in the long run for new and experienced even when ou think it should be known. It probably isn't

Bought em for the wrist support and the only other gloves I've had that are better than these are my old winning gloves. BTW anyone know where I can get a good deal on some winning bag gloves? Amazon charged around mid 300 for them thangs

salute to everybody in this thread y'all showing what makes boxing great. OP continue to stay busy :salute: I ain't a pro like y'all, but being very experienced in street fighting I will say my one recommendation (among others) is to practice chaos. E.g.:

-Weaving in and out of moving bags

-Some side distraction like flashing bright lights while throwing punches

-Volume. I like OP's work ethic, but I would say throw more punches. Work on being able to throw a few hundred or a few thousand punches without tiring out, then work on your strength. It takes just as much mental energy to block a punch as it does to throw one, if you can consistently throw flurries you will always be putting people in serious trouble

-Legs OP, legs. The one thing I like about @krackdagawd's form you can see his hips turn no homo. You're probably stronger than you think you are, you put some torque on those straight rights you will be f*cking people up. Try to turn more into your jabs and straights

-Variation. I would come up with like 5 punches OP to start out with. E.g. (straight, jab, hook, uppercut, cross). Give them a number. and just right down random sequences, e.g. 11111, 13215, 33341, etc. And practice throwing those slowly, at first, and maybe speed up over a period of 6 months. As you go along your unpredictability will become natural.

-Strength and stamina. How many hard punches can you throw before tiring out? 10, 50, 100? Some potential opponents could be more compact, and you would need to throw a lot of hard punches to wear them out, practice that

-Neck. The experts here can correct, but most people who have a strong jaw tend to have strong/compact neck muscles. Work on strengthening your neck, your head won't whiplash as much when you get hit, meaning you will be able to take more punishment, helping you to last longer in a serious fight. In this part I defer to the experts, but that's my personal opinion.

Don't get too caught up in styles, especially if you are doing this in your spare time. Unless you are planning to fight AB, it's not going to help you too much, boxers work on fighting specific opponents for several months, you might be fighting a 6'1 160 lb Paul Williams type or a 5'10 220 lb Mike Tyson type, you never know. If you practice not being ready, you will always be ready :myman:

Y'all inspired me, time for me to put some work in a gym and get back in shape for the summer, :salute:

:salute: To you as well breh get it in!

Y'all weren't joking about these wrestling shoes, the difference in being able to move and pivot is crazy. @krackdagawd your boy JB's shoes are nice. My co-worker trains at a MMA gym in Kenosha, WI and he and I were going over the in/out 'paso pentulum' move, it's so nice.

Where'd you cop these? I've never actually seen Winning gloves for sale, just the imitation ones.

Get some wrestling shoes breh, they help you glide like a ninja.

The homie a few post above posted a link for some winning gloves from japan which I'll wait to buy since I fly back to japan in a few weeks anyway.

I already got some asics split second 9s which work great for my balance/pivoting. I just would like to own a pair of quality dedicated boxing shoes as well
