- reformat ASAP. use lines that stretch across the entire page for each section instead of underlining. you can look up how to do this, just type "---" (three dashes) or "===" (three equals) and hit enter. also switch out the default bullet point format, people notice that and it looks like you haven't put in enough effort
- generally, you need to be more specific in your skillset. "statistical models, econometrics, matrix alegbra" could be any number of things. mention the exact models or procedures, the more complicated the better
- on the same note, software skills are usually very important to employers. "1+ year" with Excel makes you sound underqualified. weren't you using it throughout high school? I would separate the Excel/Access/R stuff to a "Skills" section. list the exact software functions that you are familar with like "Excel - lookup functions, data management & filtering, pivot tables" "R - multivariate regression, ... , etc."
- its good to include work experience, but I would seriously trim that section, most of it would be irrelevant to an analyst role

good luck - not to discourage you but you are definitely going to need internship experience before breaking into financial analysis. either take a paid internship or make sure people get hired out of the program. DO NOT WORK FOR FREE

Good shyt, I appreciate it.

Didn't read any of the previous posts cuz I'm lazy right now, but my wife is a recruiter. She places people at a Fortune 500 and when she was out to lunch with a hiring manager at that place the other day, the person said a trick to beating the automated systems is putting the job description at the end of your resume in all white text, so it's not visible, but hits on all the keywords.

I've been out of the job game for awhile as a business owner, so maybe that's common knowledge, but thought that could be helpful.

Hmmmm....I may have to test this one out. Is it just the Job Description or the Required Skills for the position?

Any advice on how to get a job in another state? I need help brehs :sadcam:

It's not easy. My wife has also mentioned in the past the first consideration is your address. Naturally, since that's one of the first things on your resume. It's highly competitive out there, so why go through the hassle of hiring someone out of state when you have someone equally qualified in state?

I also had this advice given to me a while ago. My cousin-in-law used to be an executive in charge of 11 countries at P&G. Way high up. I sat down with him to ask about career advice. He basically said to look for jobs in state and get a lot of experience before thinking of trying elsewhere. It was a nice way of saying you have no value elsewhere right now.

P&G has/had a screening system that used logic tests to weed out applicants. He told me P&G gets something like a million applications a year, so it was just a bullshyt way of weeding people out. Said the bureaucracy was thick and he couldn't just get me a job, but he could "coach" me through the logic tests.

It's a jungle out there. You better sharpen your machete if you want to navigate this shyt.
