I feel disrespected that you didn't take the time to proofread your advice. :umad:

You're right. That is something that all people should watch out for (Typos on Resumes and Thank you letters). You made a good example of me, and I think people should learn to proofread more. I don't proofread enough, and I think that is a fair criticism.

However, the way a interviewee looks and carries himself or herself can literally seal-the-deal long before I even look at a resume.

For example, I interviewed one girl, and she didn't shake my hand when she introduced herself to me. She also had a very nervous smile. I immediately had a negative opinion about her, and anything negative that she did during the interview only made me more disengaged and uninterested.

I asked her Basic STAR questions, and she spoke and in generalities and didn't really address my question. She also had a weird resume format.

All she did was reinforce what I had already thought about her from the first 2 minutes in which she introduced herself. Maybe if she had a better personality and more tact I would have overlooked her shortcomings.

Perhaps my best work :obama:

Notes:

- Please ignore the messed up capitalization (Debt and Equity) in the last paragraph :mjpls:
- I left some info in there to show you how I personally format my letterhead and what not
- Make sure your letterhead and font/overall theme in the cover letter is the same as it was in the Resume/Transcript (if required)
- Don't only focus on skills. Some jobs require personality traits as well, for instance in I-Banking youre required to work 80 hour weeks. I took a risk and listed my experience working factory graveyard shifts to show them that I really had that drive and propensity to work long, dreadful shifts in fast paced environments without any complaining (among other things).

I really wanted that job :bryan::to:

What's your success rate with this?

I know plenty of HR people & they aren't reading all of that shyt.

Breh cover letters are a waste of time. They will typically only glance your resume and that's it.

That being said; not having one is a bad look. Just make a generic one. I know a engineer that got hired at Canada's largest oil and gas company for coop even though he put the wrong company name and a bunch of errors. They hired him and then told him to fix it. Life.

It depends on the field /person really

I use indeed as well but not as much per day. I can get interviews every now and then but then i fail to reach that final round or get an offer and it sucks. I'm just gonna swallow the pill and chill. After this contract position ($15+ an hour) i'm considering moving styll.Id wanna live in Calgary mostly but I'm down to move wherever. I dont have much here out side of my 3,4 best friends that I'd mind leaving behind.

i have an entrepreneurial idea that i wanna implement but theres one missing piece right now. i know it has multi billion $ potential though :(

yeah man that seems the way to go, seems like everywhere in canada is better than ontario at his moment. Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC all got jobs that pay pretty well. Hell in Alberta in small oil towns you can make great money, i know a few brehs who went to like fort mcmurray and they make in 6 months more than i make in a year, and they love it out there. I keep telling myself to go, got no kids no girl

some do, some work for like 6 months throughout the winter like 12 hour days 6 days a week then come back home for half the year.

The money is great, living conditions are cheap,, yeah nightlife etc. sucks but :ehh:

its kind of disgusting though how tim hortons in some of those towns pay like 20 plus dollars a hour.
