Correction: The GOP establishment wants someone like Mitt Romney (The name that gets thrown around the most for 2024 is Nikki Haley), the actual GOP voting base wants someone like Ron DeSantis or Josh Hawley.
Haley is the get the party back on track pick IMO if they actually want a shot at winning in 2024...

Female candidate shows the country they're not the white male party anymore...Haley has strong across the aisle independent and moderate appeal, she is not dependent on strong GOP base support like Trump was and if Biden ends up being a one term president, she can easily beat Harris in a low voter turnout election which that will surely be...

Trumptards do hate her though but I think they're hatred of the libs and desire to "own" them Trumps that...

Nope.:

1. I remember during the run-up to the November general election that Lou Dobbs called Kelly Loeffler a "RINO who's a Liberal pretending to be a conservative" or something like that.

2. Also Doug Collins was the Trump-endorsed loyalist candidate in that November general election race, while I've seen some folks consider Kelly Loeffler a "Swamp Rat".

3. Kelly Loeffler seemed hesitant to fight for Trump during the runoff elections. If Doug Collins was the GOP candidate in the runoff election instead of Kelly, he would made fighting for Trump a big part of his campaign & probably wins over Warnock. Kelly was weak robotic AF candidate.

Trump lost Georgia, though. Obviously you need his supporters to win as a Republican, but I'm not sure how simply being more pro Trump than Kelly Loeffler (who is very pro Trump) is enough to win in a state where Trump could not win the presidency.

Right but that is by Trumptards...

Trumptards just proved they alone cannot win you an election, you need to appeal to independents and moderates...

So the GOP needs to make a choice, is it the party of Trump or is it the party of Lincoln...The party of Lincoln runs Nikki Haley and has a chance of winning...The party of Trump loses by 300+ electoral votes and watches the country go more blue...

GOP is run by a bunch of demonic selfish old heathens but they're not stupid...They know they have to pivot away from Trump and that will cost them a portion of their base but the alternative is not any better...Its not like Trumptards are going to vote against you anyways but they can't lose all the useful idiots...Its a game of margins...

Their best bet would to be to find some conservative red state governor who is conservative enough to please the base but doesn't have an awful Trump-esque personality. Going for a moderate Republican will turn off the base, and going for Trump 2.0 won't get enough swing voters.

Doesn't exist and the biggest selling point of Trump to Trumptards is his personality...

So if you're going to cater to them, the candidate has to be a hardcore tea party-esque conservative lunatic conspiracy nut with a limited vocabulary and a whole lot of stupid personality...

Basically Alex Jones...

She wont win it because she is a women. Plus her stance with the confederate flag didn't fly well with the base. The GOP elites know they must pivot from Trump but the base we see today is the creation of 40 years of dog whistling and racism. The monster is beyond their control. This revolt has been bubbling for 30 years and now has come ahead. The party is getting whiter and rural. There isn't no turning back. And they aren't the party of Lincoln. They are the party of Neo-Confederate traitors.

That sounds like Ron DeSantis (or somebody from the Florida GOP like Rick Scott or Rubio) to me. From what I understand the Florida GOP isn't overly socially conservative they're pretty much a center-right party.

Aside from Ron DeSantis, I could see Kristi Noem or Bill Lee being liked by them.

I would say Greg Abbott, but he has been too pro lockdown for the GOP base's liking.

Is the wheelchair really a negative for him? It hasn't seem to hurt him in Texas which is to the right of the national average, and I don't think moderate voters would look down on him for being in a wheelchair.

@Cave Savage What do you think about Ted Cruz?

Not counting Trump, My top 3 candidates for 2024 are DeSantis, Hawley, & Cruz.

He only beat Beto by 3 points in his own state. He is pretty popular among conservatives but I don't think he has that "it" factor.

So I think Hawley and especially DeSantis are the front runners.

Just imagine a debate between those three. What would they even talk about, who sucks off Trump the hardest? Aside from that, Hawley is considerably to the left of Ted Cruz on economics, at least rhetorically.

It's going to be very interesting to see who does or doesn't want a Trump endorsement in 2022 and whether or not it helps them.
