You know your stuff breh are you a pianist?

Studied some music theory but even without that if you have a love of 70's/80/ music you will go " i know that chord progression from that old Slave/Stevie/Micheal/Minnie song" every now and again and a lot when it comes to Neptunes bridges. He still is a remarkable producer though.

he produced that "Liar liar" song that was huge last year or so..a straight Sting rip off, even to the vocal inflections.
On his Girl album, the last song(i think) has a long ass break at the end of the song with a guitar solo..listen to that then listen to Slave's first album and check out "Slide" and " Son of Slide"...That Girl album is some of the most blatant jacking(60''s backbeat and 80's pop and new wave) i have seen on a body of work in a minute and the album sounds and feels rushed.

The bridge on Justin Timberlakes 'Last night' is honestly perfection to me.

If any of you have sat through those Justin Timberlake making of Justified videos (15 hours) there are parts where Pharrell creates the beat, and then will ask Chad to lay the Bridge down but they are both super dope with it and I wouldn't say Chad is greater than Pharrell, they just have different roles that work well together.

Pharrell creates the groove, the beat and most of the time lyrics for RnB dudes, Chad comes in like a band and cleans things up but he can also go solo and build a track from scratch.

This clip just shows an example, they both know how they want it to sound...Chad nails it down.

Yep. 9th Wonder for example. He's one of my favorite BEATMAKERS but he cant craft a bridge to save his life. Most of his beats are just str8 loops throughout the entire song. I dont consider him a "producer" so to speak. He's more of a beatmaker. In my opinion The Neptunes are up there with any producers of any genre that you can name as far as pure talent. Pharrell is one of the greatest musical geniuses in modern history.
I know I need a late pass on replying. But does 9th even really try to make bridges?

I would say this is the best bridge 9th did at 2:27. It's not that complicated but he changed up the beat just a little to match Michelle.

Not really arguing overall though. One of the weird things too is that 9th plays like 7+ musical instruments, but he rarely breaks from the formula.

When people used to compare Timbo to Pharrel/Neptunes I just :heh:

Pharrel just know how to take the song from dope beat to that next level. I mean really, the amount of bangers Neptunes are responsible for is just staggering.
Timbo is neptunes level

Everyone always mentions Pharrell and says nothing about Chad.... "The Real Genius"

no shade at Skateboard, he's still dope and every group needs a front man...

"THE REAL GENIUS"

Pretty c00nish statement

If you had any idea what chad did you wouldnt be saying that. He has spoke on this contributions and role in the group many times and there is a reason pharell blew up without him. Chad still makes music by the way.

The amount of songs that dude has been apart of is ridiculous:
Phil Tan | Credits | AllMusic

Dude is the definition of "behind the scenes."

It must be funny to have that kind of role where people in public have absolutely zero idea of the greatness and hits they're making with some of the most famous people on the planet.
