I knew curtis would keep it 100. I talked about a story on here how a 12 year brotha I knew growing up. Basically got pimped out by his momma to a 30 plus year old white woman. The momma didn't care cause the white girl was lacing the momma with money.

When my parents and my neighbors parents (who was also black) found out they wouldn't even let us associate or play with the dude. Just out of fear that if we hung with him the white lady or her friends could take advantage of us.

As a kid I didn't understand the shyt till I was older.

I think in addition to this everybody is ignoring the pink elephant in the room concerning the Aaliyah situation. Think of it like this - we know about a lot about Sparkles niece because Sparkle came forward and said something. The most recent incidents involving allegations that he is basically keeping women prisoner in his cribs in Atlanta and Chicago came to light because the girls parents were all over the news complaining.

Somebody tell me what have we have EVER HEARD FROM AALIYAHS PARENTS. They kept shyt on the low, likely because they knew of the importance Kelly played in her career. (probably is no Aaliyah without R Kelly to tbh)

I am gonna be honest. If you a parent and place your child in the entertainment industry something is wrong with you. Unless you are with them 24/7 they will be taken advantage of sexually, emotionally and even have drugs pushed on them.

A lot of these parents don't care cause all they want is that payday.

That's because they want ppl to think of these people as "monsters" and not as the people they love and trust everyday.

They don't want to accept the fact that they are in constant contact with someone just like him or worse...and it's all been passed down.

People forget that back in the day rural families started earlier and thus age of consent being 18 is a fairly new concept. Heck in many states right now it's still 16. Also remember it was common for rural people to only complete the 8th grade in the 1960s and starting families. You couldn't stay at the house past 18. You had to stop being a financial liability, get out the house and start ya own family.

How do you think all of these grandparents are having 50th & 60th weddinng anniversaries? They got married super young.

I wont even get into the "thot culture" saying it's OK for young girls to be sexualized as long as it's them doing it themselves and not directed by a man. Nicki's target fanbase with Barbz was who....young girls....and what did she rap about exactly? These gals not dressing and acting their age isn't helping anybody.

This is a multi-layered issue deeper than one sick man.

All this.

Yes which is a problem as well.

Yup.

These are overall social, cultural, moral issues that at this moment we want to make one damaged,
black male singer the Frankenstein face of.

Yet, it should be noted that R. Kelly's record company marketed a 16-year old girl to stardom instructing
the world to "Hit Me Baby One More Time," right into "Oops I Did It Again."

Exactly! No one can tell me what they want to see out of all this

Americans they want to be entertained. I mentioned this to my wife this morning when I saw dumb ass good morning america spend the first 10 minutes talking about Kevin Hart on Ellen.

The Dow tanking and stocks perfroming the worst they have since 2008 and 2009. Which means layoffs are around the corner and a recession. Plus the president is facing empeachment and has us in the government shutdown.

But here is the news spending 10 minutes to start their show off talking about kevin hart.

These same stupid americans will be crying when the economy goes to shyt and they lose everything. But will sit they dumb asses in front of the tv screen watching the lives of famous people. All while everything around them is going to hell.

I hate to say it but many of these dumb asses will deserve the shyt they will face once this recession hits.

Yes sir I called that shyt out back in the day. Thats really the point I have been making. Consumers are guilty they point out one kat and say you the villian when the whole industry is built that way.

Consumers got blood on their hands but on some who me not me......type of shyt.

R.Kelly is a predator and only beat his case because he had money and his guilt is overlooked because he's talented and his accusations have nothing to do with fakkitry, that being said why are we acting brand new this? These are rehashed stories him hanging around high schools, parents gifting their daughters to him, him marrying a teenage Aailyah. Why are women in here talking about literally shaking and getting sick? Everyone got real-life stories about grown men picking up their girlfriends from school except women. It's like we only care cause dude is famous but have no energy for the dudes who do this locally.

Vibe

The old Vibe article on this from the 90s says her parents were furious and demanded he stay away from her - also got her on tour abroad to move her away :manny:
They were mad. Ok. Contrast that to the most recent situation where the parents actually had more than one news conference to expose him. To this day Aaliyahs Mom is either a big liar or in serious denial. She has lashed out at the girl who said she saw them having sex. Said it's not true because they were always with Aaliyah.

Really?

So you were there when they forged documents to conceal her true age (a felony) so she could get married without her parents permission? And you think they went through all that and he wasn't fukkin her? :stopitslime:

Agreed, at least support your kids in performing arts and have them go to school to learn the craft (ie Alvin Ailey). Most these parents and kids looking for fame and $$$ and they end up regretting it and being depressed. You gotta be a narcissist.

He got money but he’s still a black man, and black men have been crucified in show biz for less.
