Japan, but from the 989
Look it's this simple. Everyone knows what date the purge is..... So I would build a basement with a vault lock on that bytch. Panic room type shyt. Take all the valuables in with me and the fam. And watch the fukkery on Fox News. You could probably hit a lick or two that night but the whole point is that you can't trust anyone. People with just an inkling of wanting to try out murder can try it out that night on someone who is caught slipping. But I'll check out the movie I want to learn about the "rationales" behind this Purge night. Sounds like Hunger Game shyt without a lottery.

It's gotten good reviews from pre screenings. Most definitely gonna watch it just for the fact it's an original concept and a creative one at that.

Someone proposed the same concept in another thread about 2 months ago.

No idea is original. That's why there are so many lawsuits accusing people of biting ideas.

swear i thought about this concept 2 days ago while shytting if they would just allow all hell to break loose for one day to let people get their vent out

and let the cops get a much needed off day

and now its true :ahh:

Yea, I saw it. It was the "If you had $300 million to make your own movie" thread. I told dude he was stupid to put that shyt online :pachaha: It was too good. You could turn that into a dope book, easy. Now that The Purge is coming out, I dont know. Either that poster could've found out about the movie before everybody else did and tried to pass it off as his own idea or he just happened to be thinking the same exact idea as a major film studio three months before the trailer dropped :leostare:

on the real, I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for the last week.

I haven't fleshed it out, so I don't know how the antagonist benefits from setting the plot in motion, besides the ramifications of the idea itself....

and I was thinking about a TV series instead of say... a trilogy of movies, because the idea has SO much potential for SO much fukkery and different stories from different angles....

but here's the idea:

New president is elected, right? Well, between his Inauguration and fist State of the Union Addresses, he proves to be rather mad villain-ish and borders on batshyt insane because of his ruthlessness when it comes to foreign relations, terrorist groups, uppity sand ******s, whatever.

But because of America is America, his approval rating is through the roof. Now, he turns his attention to the problems in America.

So, his 1st Address (the 1 year anniversary of his Inauguration) focuses on what he calls a "Revolutionary new law, and my reasoning behind it."

That law: "Once a year, in the 24 hours between July 4th 12:00 am and July 5th 12:00am, any and all US citizens are LEGALLY ALLOWED TO KILL ANY INDIVIDUAL OR GROUPS OF INDIVIDUALS YOU PLEASE."

All murders committed on Independence Day become null and void. Any murders committed before or after are immediately punishable by public torture by government police unto death. Martial Law is induced.

This, of course, whips the world at large into a frenzy. All eyes are on America as the day approaches, with many doubts at the seriousness of it all.

Until the murders start happening and nothing is done about it.

The President's reasoning for such a rule soon become apparent, though. Crime drops TREMENDOUSLY because of people's fear of the repercussions that will be handed out to them once July 4th rolls around. Petty theft, domestic violence, rape cases, gang violence... all crime drops because of the fear of Karma coming back legally.

The first year, it isn't that bad. More.... cautious, as very few people took up the offer, even though there were almost DAILY public executions broadcast on public and cable television of rule breakers.

The following years, though?

The following years would be hellacious.

The series of movies would focus on one person's life changing over the course of the Presidency due to the 24 hour/Independence Day/Please Someone Help Me Think Of A Cool and Ominous Name For This rule.

The spinoff TV shows would show shyt happening from various perspectives: Evil Men/abused women/abused children/cowards/psychotics/rich/poor/all walks of life, all stations of life.

What would it take for the everyday person to want to kill someone? How would you live knowing someone could kill you months from now based on how you've treated them?

What if you were simply the hunted? What if you KNEW someone wanted to kill you... and could get away with it?

The FIRST movie would deal with the sheer fukkery of the 2nd year. Just... a batshyt insane america.

SECOND movie would deal with the inevitable war between races and/orclasses, the rich vs the poor, cause you know it would happen the next year.

THIRD movie would deal with the war between People and The Government. It would prolly end with the protagonist/lead of all three movies (prolly Will Smith. lmao) assassinating the President so there wouldn't be another year of this shyt.

The TV series/spinoff would happen between the year leading up to the movie with a rotating cast of people.

Same exact idea. Had he thought of this idea two years ago and followed through (book, script, etc.), he might've did something...

This would be a dope movie to do several flicks about. Different stories and/or concepts all taking place on the same night across the world, you could get endless stories from the concept

had no idea, fam. honestly. Had the idea brewing in my head for a year at least.

It happens to everybody sooner or later though.

You have an idea about something, big or small.....

a month to a year later, it just magically appears. :why:

Maybe that's a sign bro...if you're religious or whatever. You should think of writing a script or a book for a new idea. You never know what could happen :manny:

How would you guys handle living in America with a day like this? Would you bunker down, or posse up and pillage? I wonder how it would work if you robbed a car dealer ship, would you legally be able to register the car afterwards? And I bet private security would be HUGGGGE. Whats your game plan?

breh people would spend the entire year, planning for that one day

At first I thought this was dope, but everytime I think about the movie setting the dumber it gets.

He clearly is wealthy enough to have a big ass house that can be super locked down.

1. Are vacations illegal in the future too?
2. He had money for a security system that crazy, but couldn't spare expense for 1 or 2 special ops mercenaries to come through and chill for a night?
3. Safe Room? He got that system and no secondary protection.
4. Automatic guns targeting anyone on his property.
5. Armed mines all over his yard.
6. Doors that electrocuted anyone that touched them

For a person with that much resources (money) it's not that scary of a night. He just fukked up on his end. The kid in home alone had more protection on his shyt than the people knowing this day is coming. If they wanted it to be truly scary then should've placed the whole home invasion angle on someone without all of that shyt just trying to protect his family in the hood or something. I might not go see this shyt now.

He doesn't really seem to be THAT rich breh. Nice big old house and a good security system (Which is probably much cheaper in this universe, may even come standardized for a house like that)....but there is nothing to suggest that this guy is ballin' like that. Remember, this is "Hollywood standards", so his rich home is more like a "upper class suburban" in universe. Even then, it's not like he has a mansion.

Also, remember that the only reason they are in this predicament on this particular night is because of happenstance. The black dude just happened to pick their home. And their child was dumb enough to let him in. I'm guessing that every other time this has happened, they just put up their walls and bunker down for the night...the dad didn't even seem that concerned about it. Most of the violence looked like it was happening in the cities.

This I Am Legend style security is likely everything that *most* people need.

That would be great if they went down the multiple stories route but one of the stories was just one dude chillin at the crib.

Like you would cut to an intense scene where there was a shootout over a briefcase of Burmese rubies, people dying, some dude on fire, a head being blown to bits.

Then it cuts to a dude laying sideways on a couch in sweats watching the third re-run of sportscenter in the dark.

Then it cuts to a gang of serial rapists and one dude who just joined is being prodded on to commit his first rape in a dank warehouse but he's being torn to pieces morally inside, then the gang leader puts a gun to his head telling him to rape or be killed.

Then it cuts to the dude chillin at home pouring a bowl of cereal and scratching his cat as he scrolls through his newsfeed on Facebook.

shyt would be amazing.

SO MUCH that could be done with this concept.

Imagine a story following a FREEDOM FIGHTER...some brave, Denzel Washington Book of Eli type of character that goes out on this night to protect the innocent poor that don't have the resources to protect themselves.

*You see a girl running. Her clothes are torn, her body is covered in dirt and sweat.* :merchant:

*Behind her is a man chasing her. He is a hooligan, covered in blood, cackling and carrying a large machete.*:demonic:

*He catches up to her. Throws her on the ground. Begins to tear her clothes off. As he pulls his pants off he throws the machete aside. "Welcome to the purge....:shaq:"

*Right before he begins to rape her....his own machete burst through his chest. As he falls over, behind him stands a tall, shadowy figure. Dressed in a trench coat, heavily armed, machete in one hand and a large bag in the other. "Yes....welcome to the purge" he says as the rapist finally curls over and dies. :whew:*

*The girl is afraid. She begins to crawl away. She is frozen by fear and can only ask for mercy.*

*The savior opens his bag. Inside is an armament of weapons, first aid materials, and other resources that may come in handy later in the movie. He finds a small revolver and hands it to the woman as he begins to walk away. "Six shots....use them wisely"....:youngsabo:*

*The woman realizes that she has been saved. Dumbfounded by what has taken place, she ask "Who....who are you? :dwillhuh:*

*The man turns around...."They call me....King James"....:troll:*

I told my girl this after seeing the preview. The concept of one night where anything goes is interesting and they could do a lot with it which is why im disappointed they just used it as a setup to do a horror movie in a house.

There is so much more they could have done with that premise.

Y'all understand that if when this movie finds success in the box office we're gonna see a movie every year for maybe the next 5 years right? The plot is ripe for sequels.

Man... a security system like that would run you $50K easy and I only saw a short little trailer. Guy looks pretty wealthy to me.

So he had 50k to spend....and he spent it on something practical like a solid security system....instead of investing in land mines and automated gun turrets that may be a bytch to put up and may be just as dangerous to him and his family (And other innocents) as they are to violent criminals....:manny:

I get what y'all are saying, I just think that with the plethora of plot holes that you could pick apart with a concept like this, "why is the family not taking more extreme protection measures" is one of the weaker points. The dude lives in a home with metal barriers and an advanced camera system....we know that it had to have worked in the past, without this strange turn of events it would have worked again.

The only reason there is a large group of people targeting his particular home this time and doing whatever they can to get in because of something the black dude did. Every other time, they likely didn't get any trouble and if they did it was likely some random criminal who moved to the next home the minute he saw that their house had security.

The trailer also indicates that they seem to be pacifist liberals of some sort, anti-violence, so planting mines and shyt around the home is out of the question.

Not EVERYONE in that world is just up and taking a vacation, even the rich ones. There isn't a movie if this family just up and leaves. All stories can be solved with "why didn't they....". They didn't, that's why we have a story. We can assume that within the universe, there are plenty of examples of prepper types going to the utmost extreme to protect themselves. I'm sure there are people that build moats with electric eels. And people with automated rocket launchers. And people with helicopters that fly through the night. And people with Black Ops security teams. Etc etc etc. And I hope that we get to see some of those people within the movie. But this isn't a story about those people. This story is about a family that has taken reasonable measures that would have worked if not for a series of unfortunate events.

I feel like I'm coming off like a Stan....:whoa: Don't get me wrong, I definitely agree that the house siege aspect is like, the most boring way you could go about this concept (Kind of a cop out to be honest)...I just don't think that what they actually did to protect themselves is much of an issue.

havent seen the movie but fck this shiet. what if you oversleep your alarm and aint up in time to arm your system?

what if your wife just decided she had enough of you/the kids and decides to pull a purge on you?

Who said that all of this *doesn't* happen?

This world is cold brehs....the people that these things happen to get GOT, simple as that....

Of course, if my boss tells me that I have to come in on this day to work...he can expect to get some work alright....I'll rape his fukking wife and kids in front of him and kill his bytch ass....show up to work the next day and put in an application to upper management that I want to be promoted to his old position....:birdman:
