this is what these cats dont realize. Certain people from certain backgrounds are being targeted more to fill up prison cells in the future. People that come from certain backgrounds and conditions are more susceptible to the negative imagery and messages glorified by these rappers who come from the same conditions and backgrounds as they do. and THAT is why its so effective. Young black kids from certain conditions identify more with the rappers themselves than say a white kid from the burbs. Little jamal sees HIMSELF in these rappers, Little Billy doesnt.

Its currently one of the most effective tools being used against us today to shape and mold the image of the black race and to keep negative stereotypes alive resulting in our own self-hate

Do you believe that hiphop was PURPOSELY turned into the trash it is today to influence certain people negatively?

Trash is a vague word so I can't comment on what you said.

But I'll say this, we need to categorize hip-hop and separate certain acts from others and group them accordingly.

This is why my first comment in this thread was "Rap and hip-hop are 2 different things. You can't debate on this until you know the difference." We're just gonna argue in circle with idiots who think they know hip-hop.

Just like rock music has been divided in to many subcategories, Hip-hop needs this as well. The white media is ignorant to our music and we just allow it. There is nothing hip-hop about gangsta/trap/drill music.


I will now focus on some positives Hip-hop has done.
1. Provide an art form for the youth to learn, practice and develop.
2. Create jobs and business opportunities through live performances, DJing, Dance schools, Music engineering and the list can go on.
3. Influence music styles around the world and change the landscape of music.
