again, that has nothing do with how the machine works man. It's you trying to make that fit into why you believe it works that way.

Here's the thing you have to keep in mind. Angier went to Tesla to build a TELEPORTATION machine. We are talking about a brilliant scientist. Teleporting and Cloning are 2 different things altogether. He is in the lab with the intention of building a teleporting device for Angier. So, I just don't see how anyone can dismiss the idea that the machine actually teleports Angier and leaves a copy behind, which is what actually happens in the book.

Co-sign. The purpose of the machine is to teleport someone, the clone is the side effect. However I think it is plausible to believe that it might have fukked up at least once and he did end up in the water for him to say he never knew if he was going to be in the water or not.

Easily Nolans second best movie...

Thats when It clicked that he was killing a part of himself every night. He gave Zero fukks. plus tesla said it when Angier asked about the Hats. "they are all your hats" Michael Cane Even told Him he is doing the same thig you're doing He is using a double. but no he just had to keep going with the beef. Imo similar to how rappers just beef for the sake of beefing just enjoy your life and don't worry bout the next man.

It basically depends on how the machine actually works, which could be 3 ways

1) The machine is a duplicator

Because this means the machine just makes an exact copy of Angier. If you believe that to be the case, than the original died a long time ago.

2) The machine teleports Angier, leaves a copy behind

I hate to bring up the book, but the machine actually teleports Angier. One side effect is that it leaves a copy behind

3) The machine actualizes both outcomes

Basically when you step into the machine, your in both a "teleported" and "non teleported" state, which results in 2 Angiers. This is what a lot of people, including myself, believe. As a result, there is no original. The movie seemed to be going in this direction.

I've always seen it as being #2 . It also makes the most sense.

1. Angier steps into the machine and sits the gun right next to it.

2. Angier is teleported and his duplicate appears inside the machine.

3. His duplicate sees the gun next to the machine, grabs it, and kills the original Angier.

4. The duplicate knows how the machine works and proceeds to kill clone after clone every night, while he's transported to safety.

Of course everything is made to be in question because of Angier himself saying he didn't know if he would be the one on stage or the one in the tank. But the clones always seemed confused like they didn't what was about to happen.

Yeah he doesn't know the exact science of the machine outside of it making two of him. Doesn't know which one he'll be once he steps in. Basically every day he did that was possibly the last day of his life from his perspective.

well if the book says he teleports... then it's obvious that it's the original the whole time

original gets in machine... he is TELEPORTED to the balcony or wherever else... it leaves a COPY standing there

so the trick is original gets in... TELEPORTS to the balcony... copy is made there and dropped into water

i mean unless they just decided to say fukk the book

Once u start trying to figure out all the answers with the duplication and clones, it leaves your mind in a paradox since it is never really explained.

I’m years late but from my viewings, it’s copies come out the other end. That’s it. However, it’s a duplicate and not a clone so the shared consciousness is copied as well. That’s why the final one had to be killed to end it.
