Tell me about it, as this was kind of the last hoorah at a good predator movie. Shane just didn't deliver, maybe it's not his fault. But the story, the setting and even the action was just plain bad.

U liked it?
I already went through it in the thread. Liked it a lot up until the third act where it just became incoherent and all over the place. It was a nice satire/parody of an 80s or 90s action flick mixed with the ultra violence of those movies. So I can’t talk to whether he didn’t deliver because I liked it. That’s for you to decide why it didn’t work for you homie but for the most part, I was there. My two big issues are the third act and the generic white guy lead, which all action movies need to stop doing. The shyt is tired. The lead character shouldn’t be the least interesting character. At all.

And as far as deadline reported back when it dropped, the problem is predator isn’t a franchise but fox kept trying to make it into one. It has a ceiling and it’s reached its ceiling money wise. So they can either accept that or not. But either way Disney will own it soon so who knows what they’ll do with alien and predator and die hard. Although I’ve heard things are happening with alien behind the scenes.

Everyone wants franchises now but not everything is built for it. But that’s for bob iger to deal with now

I'm saying man never knew cats hated this movie that much. It was fukkery but highly entertaining and enjoyable fukkery. I stopped trying to take it that serious after a while and just took it for what it was.

The ill shyt? We take the first predator seriously when McTiernan is on record saying it’s a satire and a parody and not meant to be taken seriously. He says this on the director commentary. So every predator movie, minus the alien v predator movies, have followed his lead on that.

I think we already discussed this in the thread but people fail to realize that in order for Predator to work you need an established star. Maybe Rock didnt want to attach his name to the project but I thought when they discussed rebooting this years ago that he would be tapped for sure especially after Arnold pretty much knighted him back on The Rundown.

But I guess the Fast and Furious series is going too good for him to even consider.

I like fukkery but y'all confuse shytty movies with fukkery. The movie just jumps around, no build up to anything, the predator dogs were so dumb I can't believe they even thought of doing that. That's not fukkery bruh, that's just shytty story telling and shytty film making.

They rush from one scene to the other, one moment they hiding our next minute they at his ex wife's house and his kid is out by himself trick or treating, just fukkin dumb beyond all recognition. :dead:

I do think they had some funny moments and they wasted those scenes on such a bad movie.

The first and 2nd act were terrible. I know you a Shane Stan but come on, this might be the worst movie of the year, real talk. fukking garbage. And I even was like ok, they don't care they just trying to have fun with this shyt but it's so bad it's not good. Thought some if the comedy was great but wasn't enough to pull this corpse of a movie out its hole.

We’ve been over this lol. I know that shyt doesn’t work on the film room because we all think art is math, but it’s not. It’s subjective. I liked the first two acts. I didn’t like the third. There’s no mathematic equation you can give me to prove to me I’m wrong on it. The shyt worked for me until it didn’t lol. Idk what else to tell you homie.

It is possible for two people to see a movie or hear a song and get two different interpretions of it right?

Now if you want me to go point for point as to what I liked about those acts I can do that. No problem. But if you’re already starting from the point that it’s factually wrong for me to like the first two acts, then it’s moot homie.

Yeah the belief is the predator is the star. But in truth people don’t come to see the predator; he’s not Freddy or Jason. They come to see the person taking the predator out.

Exactly. Arnold is the star of Predator.

Ehh I wouldn’t even go that far anymore. The most successful predator is still alien v predator in 04. The draw there was seeing alien v predator tho. Arnold is far removed from being in predator. It’s not like Jamie lee and Halloween where she did two then came back twenty years later and did two more. Arnold hasn’t done a predator movie in 30 years and I’d have a hard time believing even in the best shape that he could do what needs to be done to beat a predator because of how his lifestyle has taken a toll on his body. I’m sure he’d be down for it but again to Deadline’s point, does that entice anyone to see it other than the core fan base? And that core fan base is already maxed out dollars wise so how do you bring in a new audience?

On the other hand I can believe Laurie strode could get herself right enough to challenge Michael Myers 40 years later.

Wrong, the most successful Predator is the original. Remember avp came out almost 20 years later in way more theaters at higher ticket prices and had merged with Alien. Gtfoh.:russ:

It's all good Marty, I ain't trying to use mathematical formulas to explain why the movie as a whole sucked, you a shane black stanley and that's all there is to it. Any other director and you wouldve hated this movie. You ain't fooling anyone. :russ:

Breh I’m not counting for inflation. Of course if we did that then it’s not but rarely does anyone count inflation when they make those statements. Come on man don’t be silly. AvP is still the biggest movie in the franchise *not counting for inflation* if that makes you sleep better at night. Make that same argument next time someone says titanic or avatar or force awakens are more successful than gone with the wind.

And again nah. Like I said if you want me to go through it blow by blow and have an actual discussion we can do that homie. I love that. But if you want to do whatever this thing you’re doing now is, then miss me on it. You want to debate film and talk film or you want to be a typical Coli cat? Your call. But it’s cslled the film room so let’s bring some actual discussion to the table rather than the typical boring bullshyt

Seen this movie yesterday.

Enjoyed it for what it was. Strong points were the fukkery and the loonies. Action was decent. Jokes had me laughing. The lighting in some of the action scenes was bad. Reminded me of Batman begins. Shootouts start happening and you scrambling to understand what's going on. Good kills tho.

The ending was corny with that suit shyt that popped up.

I liked the movie better than the Predators film and it does have the same vibe as 1 and 2, but just aint executed on that level.

Word. There are technical issues that didn’t work . Like the lighting. And some of the action shots. And everything that happened in the forest was way too dark. When sterling got killed I could barely tell what happened because I could barely see what happened. The Batman begins comparison is apt. Probably another reason he started shooting his fighting scenes in the light because what he was doing wasn’t working

Well he wasn't the only star but Arnold is the major draw and I think that's what these movies are missing.

I love Predators too and its highly slept on. How do they get off of the planet?:damn:
