Yes! And not just Arnold. You rooted for Mac and Billy, etc. you knew the other characters and the movie was about them. Same with alien. You rooted for Ripley, but in the first one she wasn’t even the clear main character until closer to the end. And in aliens everyone wanted to see her, newt, hicks, Hudson, Vasquez, etc, survive. And Burke was a villain.

The actual monsters weren’t even the main focus of the early predator and alien movies and actually didn’t have all that much screen time.

I would argue that the monsters are far less interesting than they’re made out to be, and what makes them interesting becomes less cool the more you learn about their origins. I don’t want to know how the alien came to be. It’s scarier when it’s just a horrifying lovecraftian space rape monster.
Cgi ruins a lot of these movies nowadays. Allows too much of the "monsters" to be shown. That mystique is gone.

Also remember that that Predator and Aliens were made by directors who knew what the fukk they were doing. Masters of the craft.

I feel ya, especially being a big fan. I actually liked this last trailer. Looked like plenty of gore, action and laughs. It was well cut.

Yea I'll go watch it the 18th (5$ beer specials on Tuesdays at my local theater) and just see what's this like. If good I'll gladly come in here and say I was wrong.

Word. Always do my best to go into a flick with no preconceived notions. Had to learn that when I started reviewing albums a few years ago

lol, I am not too sure about that. You should read up on how long both Alien and Predator were in development and how many people were involved in making it happen. A guy like Walter Hill might have had just as much influence as Scott to bring Alien to its conception.

watched p2 yesterday. movie is criminally underrated and head and shoulders above every alien/predator movie not named predator/alien/aliens

i seriously doubt this movie will compare to p2. all things aside, that flicked added great mythos to the series ie. alien skull, respect for prey, ancient aliens (i know they did a comic on the 1715 gun but it was originally put in to set a movie in theb past with old flintlocks n rifles, new weaponry, continuation of the black ops story in 1, gore, king willy/el scorpio, the crazy one liners.

the new trailer DOES look like they returning to form of the first films

Yes, many people helped make those movies classic. But those directors proved to make more than just one classic film. Cameron, Scott. Mctiernan...actually they have made some of the best Action films of all time.

I dont understand why they keep trying to make these films humorous, aint a damn thing funny about predator. The jokes arent even funny it just makes the films corny.

Who the fukk keeps signing off this goofball shyt

The only jokes in the first one I can really think of were the couple Shane black p*ssy jokes and I guess the “I don’t have time to bleed/do you have time to duck” lines.

That’s true but John mctiernan was a master level action director. The dude made die hard. Ridley Scott has done amazing work and james Cameron is obviously a legend.
