The fact that this moment still lives in infamy 5 years later, and still elicits an emotional reaction / farms engagement means it worked in WWE’s favor.

:yeshrug:

Sucks it came at Kofi’s expense but if the goal was to create a moment that lasts forever, they definitely accomplished that. I can’t even tell you what else happened that night.

Still, sucks it came at Kofi’s expense. He deserved to go out better than that.

There’s no comparison considering Kofi losing didn’t hurt WWE business in any shape or form

It just pissed a bunch of us off which was probably the goal.

I think we forget sometimes that our emotional investment is what WWE banks on. Whether it be anger or happiness. The alternative is indifference and not caring. Once we reach that level, everybody loses.

But if we’re screaming and kicking, or celebrating, it’s all engagement for them. The game is the game. I feel like that’s a hard pill to grasp for some lol. We’re just numbers to them in all honesty.

Still wish Kofi went out better than that tho, but that’s me!

Don’t get it twisted tho, I was heated when this shyt happened and I still wish Kofi went out better than that lol

I’m just speaking from an entertainment standpoint. It’s show biz. I don’t see how people engaging with a moment from a tv show 5 years later is necessarily a bad thing for a company that relies on peoples engagement if that makes sense

:manny:

They wanted a moment and they got one, for better or for worse. It just came at our black kings expense

:mjcry:

Well, we the fans, got behind Kofi earlier in the year and wanted him to win the WWE title, which the E had no plans of originally doing. I think the original plan was for Mustafa Ali to win the belt and then he got injured. That was Vince's way of saying screw you to all of the fans again. I think people forget in 2014 the fans fukked up the E's Randy Orton/Batista WM 30 ME because we wanted Daniel Bryan in there, which they eventually reluctantly had to pull the trigger on and if DB hadn't got injured later that year, he would've been in Cena's position at SummerSlam getting dominated with german suplexes and jobbing to Brock Lesnar in under 10 minutes. It probably hurt Vince when Bryan's neck put him on the shelf,

I didn't watch WWE from like 04 to 2022; EVERY I heard about the New Day from TSC was that they were co*ns and shucked and jived

 It kills me how TSC marks out for a fantasy long Kofi title run after this

So, you're right--it worked

their need to only keep certain stars at tier 1-2 compared to the rest is whats always gonna hold the product back, and why we have cyclical stories if you watched wrestling long enough (i stopped following the product maybe 6yrs ago except for a few highlights here and there, but recently started watching more again)

multiple stars can be credible and pushed at once, kofi could have been given a real shot but it is what it is

they complained about not having new stars built in-house for a while, and thats a big part of it, tho i think they doin a better job balancing it recently

Why would they feel the need to protect Kofi?
Because he's their champion, momentarily the face of the company, and dude was everywhere during "Kofimania", they even covered him going back to Africa & shyt.

They made it a big deal & like they were trying to reach out to Africans & shyt.

Leave him be, he a contrarian.:russell:

shyt like this is one of the reasons I became #NoWatchGang & started watching AEW.

I really think the only reason AEW exists is because of shyt like this. :francis:

Lol how does it make me a contrarian when I literally didn’t want Kofi to go out like that?

We’re all on the same side when it comes to that. I wish some of you would attempt to comprehend sometimes instead of getting dismissive when someone doesn’t have the same emotional rhetoric as yourself

None of us wanted Kofi to go out like that. None of us. We were upset when it happened. All I’m saying is I think that’s what WWE was banking on when it happened?? thats controversial to say?

Bringing up shyt like no watch gang is so shortsighted lol we’ve established that the IWC is the minority in wrestling fandom

i don’t see how any self respecting black person could be giving this company 9.99 every month :snoop: i’m dead serious too

If you knew Kofi vs Brock was a real fight you woulda put the house on Brock and you know it.

Kofi has no chest, is 160, and looks like a peanut beside Brock. Ain't no damn way it shoulda gone more than 3 minutes.

Well, if that's your stance, then you gotta put the whole roster over Shawn Michaels, Bryan Danielson, Rey Misterio & a ton of other cats. :yeshrug:

AEW can't have MJF as their champ now can they?:stopitslime:

There's a way you treat champions in the business, even one where you have to suspend belief on some level.:comeon:

Imo it looks bad when you have someone you have positioned as one of the top two wrestlers in your company (2 top titles), lose in less than 10 seconds while defending. It it basically say his run was a fluke, and he was a sham the whole time.

They did that to boost Brock's stock for what? A feud with Cain fukkin Velasquez, followed by Rey Mysterio....

Well they shouldn't give the title to secondary talent. Edge never drew a dime and you can see that now. Kofi shouldn't have won the title either. Raw didn't need a second world title that we all know is not the world title.

A win vs Brock is still big.
