The 5 Boroughs
There would have been some money in having Brock get done like the Miz and turn around at the bell into a trouble in paradise. People would have wanted to see if the company was going to put him over Bork twice and cement his reign. You create a few positive outcomes out of that: 1) Kofi is now a made man and can step in and hold the belt at anytime when needed and be credible (think Edge), 2) The inevitable Bork loss is neither damaging to Kofi or upsets the fans as much, and 3) Brock doesn’t catch unnecessary heat for the squash

Or as soon as the bell rings Rey comes down with Cain distracting Brock, Kofi hits the TIP Brock falls out of the ring Cain and Brock get into it and brawl all over the place the match ends in either a dq or co or no contest. Kofi would then drop the title to The Feind since getting him the title needed to happen anyway.

Everyone looks good. Kofi doesn't get squashed, Brock keeps his heat because of Cain distraction and brawl which actually builds something to that horrible one and done match and The Feind goes over a popular baby face.

There's another company possibly getting 9.99 a month from some of those black people and I don't think I've seen a black person on their roster.
I have, but they get jobbed out weekly.

Darby Allin beat a black man 3 times his size in 4 mins

ehh, he had a longer reign than most people. And they could've easily put the title on a white dude and had them lose to Brock.

Kofi had a legit title reign, it just ended in f*ckery. Cena got squashed by Brock too, they just let him live a little longer during the match.

yea.... I think the same company our friend was referring to just a couple of days ago had a black woman beat 2 women in a billed 3 vs 1 handicap match :ehh:
I don't think the one I was referring to even has women. Although I have seen two as valets there in the past.

Looking back at this, I don't believe Kofi had no supporters with any sway. If Vince wanted to, he could have had Kofi lose the title at the next PPV or even sooner than that. You don't hold the WWE Championship for six months without anyone believing in you.

The thing that makes no sense is if Brock squashing Kofi was always the plan, why didn't he just cash in MITB on him? It accomplishes the same thing and protects Kofi since Brock moved in on a weak moment. Instead, they waste time giving Brock back the Universal Championship, only to have him lose it again and go to SmackDown to have the match he could have had three months earlier?

Why would they feel the need to protect Kofi?

The fact that this moment still lives in infamy 5 years later, and still elicits an emotional reaction / farms engagement means it worked in WWE’s favor.

:yeshrug:

Sucks it came at Kofi’s expense but if the goal was to create a moment that lasts forever, they definitely accomplished that for better or for worse. I can’t even tell you what else happened that night.

Still, sucks it came at Kofi’s expense. He deserved to go out better than that.
