What's the news?

Have to find the link. So far things have not been published yet. A new study saying that a village/mummies in Lower Egypt during AE times from the third intermediate to Roman times had LESS SSA ancestry than MODERN Egyptians. However that does not explain away the significant Horner ancestry in modern Egyptians today. Since Horners were no enslaved by Egyptians. I'm not gonna post to much because so far things have not been fully explained.

I'm doubtful on that. I'll wait to see this report and who funded it.
Me and others personally believe that the North could have been repopulated by Southerners after the Roman period. I mean the sampled mummies are from Abusir which is in the DELTA which is right outside Fayum which is known to have had many foreigners. But I want to wait for the published article and so I'm holding off.

However I have another Egyptian related material that I want to post, but this one goes after the "why you guys forcus on AE" crowd.

@KidStranglehold

Read the thread. Makes sense as Kemet was Afro Asiatic. So was Nubia before Nilotes conquered it. Even so, the physical appearance of many Nubians probably didn't look like Dinka or Nuer type of Nilotes.

The Tommy Knock thread is a mess. We've come a long way with this thread!

Can you square something for me then?

If there's a belief that Nilo-Saharan cattle culture predates and began dynastic culture, then why are Ancient Egyptians placed within an Afro-Asiatic linguistic sphere?

The same way Hausa speak an Afro Asiatic language. You have to remember pre-dynastic Egypt was multiple cultures so you had Afro-Asiatic settlements along the NIle, too. Just so happens things like the pharaonic crown and isis worship come from the Nilotes from the South.

I can't believe I forgot about Menes. Thanks! Still learning a lot about an area which is not my expertise in Africa.

A few questions after this great post:
- What ancestral peoples conquered the Hausa and pushed their Afro-Asiatic culture on them? My guess is that it's peoples who were similar to Saharan cultures (those who painted caves in the Sahara) who moved south and subjugated the Hausa.

Saharan cave art/Hausa ancestors?

- What is the Central-West Africa genetic heritage mean?
- What does the West Africa genetic heritage mean? I think it means West African ancestries which did not emerge from the savanna range north of eastern West Africa but around western West Africa at the confluence of the Niger and Gambia rivers.
- Igbo, Yoruba and others have pygmoid ancestry going on. Perhaps adding further evidence to the existence of West African pygmoids before the migration from the savanna to the rainforests?

These findings are important. Essentially, Nigeria's three main ethnic groups (Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo) have greater affinity than previously thought. Too bad Nigerian study of history has fallen down the wayside.
What's with the Nigeria is evil?

What's with the Nigeria is evil?

Long story. Unrelated to this thread. We can continue the discussion on the Nigeria Geopolitics thread but I have said this in the past:
You asked me why I changed my signature to "Nigeria Is Evil"

I thoroughly believe that Nigeria is a criminal enterprise designed to benefit a predatory elite.

It is a product of British colonialism which meant to suck the Niger-Area (Nigeria) of its wealth through brutal means of coercion. It bequeathed power to a Northern elite by stealing an election on behalf of their lackeys in 1960. The collapse of the first version of their criminal enterprise in 1966 ushered in a genocidal war which killed over 1 million of my ethnic group. The post-war political order ushered in various forms of dictatorship, carcinogenic cancer pollution, deliberate under-education of Northern Nigeria and praise of mediocrity at best, decline at worst. And so it did decline. Nigeria's poverty rate has more than doubled since 1980.

Today, Nigeria continues on this path. However there are new structural problems:
- Rampant population growth which may lead to 400 million Nigerians in a country the size of California
- Dependence on oil and natural gas which has led to economic deprivation of the Niger Delta. On top of degrading their lands and causing sky-high cancer rates.
- Support for militant Fulani chauvinists who have killed thousands across Nigeria
- Economic strangulation of Igboland and the South-South
- Political Sharia and religious radicalization on top of massacring Shiites whenever they protest too much
- A police state which seeks to destroy any opposition to the Northern Agenda
- Continued deliberate under-education etc. etc.

And all of this is intentional.

So, Nigeria is evil.
