It's not about me having a problem with comic book adaptions. The problem is how they're judged on a different scale to how folks would normally judge the medium. It's why you and others are getting in your feelings about critiques of the show, whereas if this exact same show was made in a foreign country, with unknown actors and had absolutely no ties whatsoever to any comic book, y'all would not be in here with the same type of energy, acting like someone just pissed on your dead mama's grave.

In fact, my position would be shared amongst the majority who did watch it.

Daredevil is one of the best series' I've ever seen, so it's not that I look down upon comic book material, it's just I hold them to the same standard as I do everything else. I don't elevate them beyond what they are, purely out of whatever attachment folks have with the source material.

The show was pulling you to root for him and vic.. but they were both murdering lowlifes.

Furthermore, you're cherry-picking one part of my argument and holding onto it for dear life instead of taking it as a whole (most likely because you can't debunk what I've said). I've already reiterated to you it doesn't need to stick to its original material, that he can have a voice of its own. I've already reiterated to you that my issues with the show have nothing to do with it not being "comic book enough".

You're far too emotional to read properly. You made this abundantly clear the moment you cried about three posts critiquing the show as if the sky had fallen.

Everyone knows if it was a baseless gangster show, it wouldn't be all that...

That's the point.. It's not. It's based on Batman. And for a BATMAN show, it's fukking amazing because it's not what BATMAN is known to do with Penguin. And in fact, this entire story is a FRESH IDEA about Penguin that hasn't been done before. Which, again, is a big risk in the comic world.

It literally did that by making it a gangster show.

They explored Oz’s backstory and focused on his mom. They made Oz a sociopath instead of some campy joke with gimmick umbrellas and weird bird sounds. They turned Penguin into a threat.

And it's also okay to critique a show you don't like either.

Nobody has governance over what should and shouldn't be posted on here (within reason).

I guess that's the issue with a lot of discourse around film/TV nowadays, where genuine discussion about something can't be had because too many folks think it should be all about dikkriding. Too many folks lean far too heavily to one side and don't wanna hear anything to the contrary.

Maybe, maybe not. But his character is one that hates to feel belittled or disrespected. So her blowing up on him DID make him want to hurt her.
