Detective Batman unraveling a mystery, that's what made the shyt fire :why:
The antagonists are nothing alike:

"The Court of Owls is a violent cabal of some of Gotham City's oldest and wealthiest families who use murder and money to wield political influence throughout history. To carry out their interests, they employ a breed of highly trained assassins known as Talons. The leaders of the organization appear to be human and wear white owl masks on their faces. The earliest history of the Court of Owls dates back to Gotham's earliest days in the 1600s."
Bruce (Ben Affleck) said the first Waynes were fur traders

Not a repeat of the first movie :unimpressed:
But Reeves has talked about how he wants this series to be partly about how fukked up Gotham is.

Speaking to more broad themes, he muses on how Gotham is perennially corrupt. "[It's] the idea that it draws people in the way that it does with Oz Cobb and this idea of trying to grab for the American Dream, the dark side of the American Dream," he says. Each title set in this Gotham world will offer a different shade to that dark American Dream, but Reeves doesn't want it to feel like homework. You don't have watch The Batmanto understand The Penguin and you don't have to watch The Penguin to understand the events of The Batman Part II.

"It's more that it's taking place within this same world," he continues. "If you do watch the whole thing, it is an epic narrative and a meditation on the corruption and why Gotham is the way it is. When I talk about the other shows that we're talking about doing, what's exciting is to think about going down another alley that we weren't able to go down with The Penguin and The Batman."
A mob boss bribing government officials and cops is different than an centuries old illumination group pulling every string in the city with an assassin clan.

Falcone wasn't a mob boss. He was the mayor :unimpressed:

Everyone answered to him for over 20 years to the point where elections didn't even matter. Elections HE was in control of.

It was already a conspiracy secret society storyline because Falcone was in the shadows in the first movie.

The mystery was finding out that not only was he in control of Gotham but he had been in control for years and powerful people such as Bruce Wayne's father even went to him for help.

Court of owls is the same thing but they just where masks and have been doing it longer.

It's redundant because they made Falcone too powerful in the first movie.

What can they do different? the court of owls control politicians and the courts? well Falcone already did, they control GCPD? well Falcone already did, they control powerful people? Well Falcone already did.

If Falcone was just in control of the GCPD in the first movie they could have moved another level to politicians but the first movie did everything :yeshrug:

Ehh, a mob boss becoming mayor isnt the same thing or story as the elite/illuminati controlling shyt to me. A mob boss isnt part of the elite and how both would go about things would be totally different. :yeshrug:

J Prince/Wack 100/Suge/Colombos/Gambinos move different than the Rockefellers/Du Ponts and the other "powerful" families of the world.

Nah dude is legit/a good actor, does his job with each character/you have to hate them.
If he was such a good actor he wouldn’t be getting consistent tv roles. He’s an actor who knows his lane. There’s nothing wrong with that if he keeps getting roles.

He only had like 8 minutes of tv time in the show. :mjlol:

I've said this has always been the conflict with Batman/DC. The tones clash

Batman keeps losing it's way over the decades because at it's best, Batman has dark horror and psychological thriller elements. This is why The Batman being a Se7en ripoff works so well. It's a true crime vehicle about a psychopath dealing with psychopaths.

This always gets lost on writers and batman mostly ends up being this action property. Comics Batman has been an action movie character for so long but the stories that are remembered and on GOAT lists retain those horror/thriller elements. Hell we're on the the 3rd live action Batman property to pull significant elements from the Long Halloween. There's a reason for that

So yea of course Batman linking up with the Justice League clashes with those dark tones Batman excels in, but Batman is also stuck in that limbo because he's the most popular character DC has
Disagree. There are numerous versions of Batman. Obviously people can have what they prefer but IMO the Batman the Animated Version Batman had the dark elements but could also fit in a Justice League universe.

I actually think this is a great opportunity. You can do the grounded stuff in this universe (I really enjoyed The Batman and Penquin is an all timer, but we've seen the grounded with The Dark Knight series. I'm up for some comic accurate Bane, Freeze, Killer Croc, Clayface as they are also part of his rogue's gallery) and have a BMTAS template version that can incorporate the more fantastical elements in the DCU. As with anything, it's all about execution.

Best show I've watched in a LONG ass time. Wrote this off cuz I hate Batman in general but am so glad I took the plunge. Great performances, complex characters, cool world building, brutal and exciting and a great plunge into the darker sides of psychology. Fantastic all around and can't wait for the next season

Late as fukk to this but yeah, this was an outstanding fukking series :wow: :ohlawd:

Can't stress enough how glad I was that they made Oz an irredeemable piece of shyt :pacspit:

That's a what a real villain is. Not that "oh but he's got issues" bullshyt Todd Phillips tried to mask as a "Joker" movie (the most irredeemable motherfukker in fiction).

It’s weird everyone acting like the actress who played Sofia for years was busted, (How I Met Your Mother, Wolf of Wallstreet, etc) to now thristing over her. one career can really change your life i guess lol

I don’t recall her in Wolf of Wall Street

I only watched one episode of that Netflix show of hers and forgot all about it :dead:

I was wondering why she looked familiar.

She looks like an older Violet Myers :pachaha:
I only remember her from Black Mirror

As far as I know this is a one-off series.
