I disagree with this. I'll admit that with a decade plus gap in age there's gonna be a gap in life experience, but age does not determine mindset or future potential. I know women my age who are still learning how to adult, I've also met women 8-10 years younger than me, who while may not have been through as much life lessons, but are way ahead of some older women and have a lot more potential. More importantly, men and women are on completely different clocks.

For example, a woman who is very family oriented ideally would prefer to find a partner and start laying to ground for this prior to the age of 30.. at 30, a dude either is just starting to get, or has gotten his shyt together and may not be looking to settle down for some time. In the social space, this is where they inverse each other.. at this point she's more willing to settle, while for him, the game is wide open... he has a much larger pool to choose from.

I'm not saying 35 year old dudes should be out here scoping out potential 18 year old wives.. that's just fukking weird, but to label dudes pedos for finding attractive, and wanting to have sex with, drinking aged adults... well that's just fukking retarded.

In today’s society that doesn’t always play out. In previous generations, women and men were forced to mature earlier b/c life was harder. And women were particularly forced to mature earlier b/c the social safety nets of birth control, delayed marriage due to increased educational and economic opportunities and lack of stigma around being single past a certain age—all of these options weren’t available back in the day.

So it’s very rare to see extremely young women being paragons of maturity. In fact when I mentioned somebody getting taken advantage of, I wasn’t just envisioning an older dude preying on a younger woman, but a younger chick running hella game and fooling older dudes outta 401ks and checks and to buy shyt for the younger dudes who getting the guts for the freeskis.

Too much of an age difference most of the time is indicative of some issues somewhere along the line.

I turned 28 in June... Just this year I've dealt with a 25, 31, 18 (told me she was 19 but idgaf), 30, and a 35 year old. You beat me too it. Females have more potential biological risk early on than men do (i.e. physically vulnerable, pregnancy).

My daughters mother doesn't have an issue with high schoolers dating older men, but "within reason" though she won't explain what that means. Her take is if our 16 year old daughter wanted to date a 26 year old man, we could lose her if we forbid it, like how those R Kelly chicks stopped communicating with their families for years...

So she says we should find productive ways to allow that kind of relationship...

No disrespect but It sounds like you have 2 girls to raise:

Your child's mother should do what's best for your kid...not what is easiest for her (Mom). Kids like and respect consistency, rules & structure.
Instead of fearing losing your daughter think of parenting techniques that will draw her closer i.e. Open to communication, showing interest, etc.
She has 2 options. She can fear -
1. Losing her to the streets/predators.
vs
2. Losing her to sound, protective, loving parenting.
Note - When you operate from a place of fear/weakness the outcome will reflect that...

As for you - Step firmly, confidently & authoritatively into your role as father, leader, honorer, & protector of your daughter. You are the 1st man in her life - Validate her, instill knowledge into her (best gift a man could give a woman. life is all about decisions. when you have knowledge you make better informed decisions), and cover her.
Don't know the dynamics between you & mom of your kid but if they are "right" then she would defer to you and be on one accord. You should inherently know what I mean by this.
