Meh Cyberpunk is really the only title coming out that requires an upgrade from me(it doesn't but Ima do it anyway). Hopefully by then they figure this shyt out and the level of thirst drops considerably.

My c9 oled tv had hdmi 2.1 but not display port.
(I'm not currently in the market for a new card, though)
DP isn't crossing over to mainstream TVs like HDMI is all it boils down to. It's not important it's just what some ppl want

for gamers its because hdmi 2.0 was capped at 4k 60 fps and hdmi 2.1 is capped 4k 120 fps or 8k 60 fps...2.1 also provides variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode
on the home theater side its mainly because of eARC and Dynamic HDR

HDMI 2.1 is mainly for premium televisions that support 4K 120hz and true 10-bit color. Monitors and displayport used to be far ahead of TVs in terms of input lag and picture quality, but today's TVs caught up thanks to the new HDMI standards.

I'm just found a local store that will notify me when they have it in because the shipment hasn't reached them yet, so its still hope,
I'm hoping the 3090 is too expensive for these flippers, I mean the 2080ti was only 999 when it dropped
but I need to hurry up and get one now, because the price won't be going back down the 1080ti was 700 when he it dropped, and the price quickly went up to 800 then over 1000 at one point before dropping back down to 800s
I'm thinking of just buying a open box 2080 super from Microcenter to hold me over until this shyt gets resolved. Currently I'm using some old GPU I had laying around and that shyt is pitiful(Radeon R9 280).
