If it was a decent motherboard it should have 5.1 support onboard.
Even prebuilt Acers have 5.1 support out of the box these days.

are these stand-alone speakers, or are you going through a receiver? you should be able to see what audio ports your mobo has
Its a Logitech Z906....I think they are stand alone speakers but I am not really sure truthfully I just ordered it yesterday....I know it comes with a Sub.
I know I can probably use it with my mobo, was just wondering does it actually reproduces good sound or is a sound card purchase worth it.

It ranges a lot. You can get a gpu in there (which I have), or not, which ups the price a lot.
