A 6800K + a X99 board will cost the same or maybe even more once you factor in no Heatsink is included.

A 1700X + that ASRock board for $140 will be a nice combo for him the more I think about it (assuming everything benches as advertised).
I'm sayin dude wants to upgrade his few year old ~$200 i5. I would hope a brand new $500 CPU would be a significant upgrade

see, somehow these new chips are gonna make people think they need a $500 CPU :heh:

i tried explaining this to somebody on another forum a while back... most content creation programs (like lightroom) aren't even scaling well atm and see no effective benefits past 6 cores and if you have a legitimate need for more than that then it makes much more sense to just go the true workstation route and cop a xeon (or two).

people with the cash just lying around burning a hole in their pocket is one thing, but watching a person attempt to justify a $1000 cpu to themselves because they like to occasionally edit memes in photoshop and stream games over their dsl tier internet connection once in a while is just :mjlol:

System Requirements are always odd to me. The 3570 is about 40% faster than the FX 6350 in all benchmarks. I bet Sandy Bridge CPUs will run it just fine.
well I doubt they test it on every piece of hardware ever made. the 3570 might have been the oldest and weakest intel CPU they had

Just got home and had this come in today:
GSaL6iI.jpg

Was loose in the box but luckily I didn't see no damage. Must've slipped off the plastic.

Getting close to having all my parts so I can start learning how to build this. Just need the case and the graphics card. Looking at this graphics card for now:

ROG STRIX-GTX1080-O8G-GAMING | Graphics Cards | ASUS USA

The case I can buy now, looking at a nzxt one with a side window. Don't know about that brand but I think that window thing would look cool. The graphics card is a different story. I could just put it on a credit card and pay it off or just save up a bit longer and get it. Already expensive enough as it is but might as well do it right so it'll last for some time. With proper care and maintenance, this pc should last me for a long time. Hopefully I get it done soon.

I'm trying to decide on a second hard drive. I'm not really sure on the western digital ones. I had selected the wd black but that's not on Amazon anymore, don't know if it's discontinued or what. I got a Samsung ssd drive, I want to say 500gb. Don't know if I can just rock with that until I add a bigger hard drive or what. I think that should be fine to get the pc up and running?
