I have a i5-3570k and been looking to upgrade my CPU and GPU for better video recording/rendering performance.

Right now I can only record PS4 gameplay via capture card at 720p/60fps with my current CPU and GPU. How do I get to 1080p/60fps?

Ryzen is the Athlon reincarnated. I picked a good time to build a new PC, gonna pick up a 1700X.:takedat:

It looks like AMD has done it. Pre-Orders should be starting today. I am not going to buy anything until the finals chips are in the hands of people like linus with their own benching methods.

Do you have the 6800K or the 6900K? The 24 PCIe lanes might bottleneck a nut like you, but 6900K performance for hundreds of dollars less? That's insane

im gonna call it right now. AMD has its price cheap for a reason. Thev'e done this before displaying powerful hardware only for issues to rise from glitches to heating (especially heating). I could be wrong but i think this will be bulldozer all over again. I dont trust benchmarks from AMD. Ill wait to see how Ryzen fairs in the hands of consumers

it's probably gonna perform well in synthetic benches that fully use all it's cores. but that won't necessarily reflect it's gaming performance in games that don't scale so well, and it's single core performance

we'll see, but like I said before, AMD always coming with that snake oil

AMD cannot afford another bulldozer situation, it might literally kill the company.

I am thinking at the end of the day it will clock in slightly lower than the 6900K, but the value is what AMD will have going for it.

You will want the 1800X or 6800K-6900K with Intel.

Your issue is that you are running with a 4/4 CPU. To record high quality video while playing demanding games is going to take a stronger CPU to get that done. The 3570K is still a great CPU for gaming, but you have to figure out if you do enough streaming/recording to justify the cost. A core i7 4/8 thread CPU will help, but in your case a 8/16 might serve you well for many years to come since it looks like you stick with your hardware for a while.

From the looks of it, the 1800X is going to be hard to pass up for $500. I can't recommend it as it is not out yet, but for $500 it looks insane.

see, somehow these new chips are gonna make people think they need a $500 CPU :heh:
A 6800K + a X99 board will cost the same or maybe even more once you factor in no Heatsink is included.

A 1700X + that ASRock board for $140 will be a nice combo for him the more I think about it (assuming everything benches as advertised).

I have a 6850K with 40 lanes, so itdoesnt bottleneck me at all.

Nah, they even lost that over the past couple of years. They were getting their asses kicked for a solid 4 years on all aspects by Intel. shyt got ugly.

10 years if you don't factor in price to performance.

My last amd build was $1300 from 2013 with a black edition of fx 9590. So ur right on the price. Most parts were amd as well.
