Yep, it was funny seeing united campaigning to have the world club tournament abolished after they got embarrassed in 2000. Youd have thought underappreciated world legends like scholes, keane and giggs would have been keen to rip it up to make household names of themselves but unfortunately there was some excuse or another.

Very true. Its a battle of football styles on display and the world is getting fed up with the boring tiki taka nonsense. As if the contrast between the two semifinals wasn't enough an Italy win will put the nail in the Spain dikkriding coffin. First Barca, now the national team. Time to put them out to the pastures.
Also I dont know how people are acting like Balotelli's race/ethnicity is insignificant. Racism has followed him around throughout his career in Italy it would definitely be a watershed moment if he was one of the keys behind a Euro trophy. Brehs on that race doesn't matter and its just sports tip stop it its disgusting
i've been traveling for a few days sans internet so pardon my late response.
not saying balotelli's race doesn't matter, as it deeply matters. but it matters in terms of reconciliation, not "making crackers mad
". as a chelsea supporter, certain parts of the fans' history is awful, which made it ridiculously fun to watch two huge black dudes scoring the majority of the teams' goals, and even better to see them cheered on. yeah yeah, i'm sure there are some bad apples left, but as i said before, it's an island founded by a distinct people, so some elements of xenophobia will never be completely put down.so anyway, italy winning or not, balotelli becoming a hero in the semi final was hopefully a wakeup call that being racist and an avid national team supporter isn't so easy anymore. every prosperous western euro country with a good side has had to deal with it, save for italy up till now and spain, kinda, senna playing for spain always seemed like an awkward handshake with the fans
my issue was really just sohh dudes (more or less) pretending to be militant by rooting for an athlete on tv
