fact is, if the playing field was truly fair across the board, a lot of these poorer countries would make people question the so called dominance and greatness of these bigger wealthier countries. You look at Brazil and soccer, the West Indies and cricket back in the late 70s & 80s, and you can see the talent is there, the infrastructure is what's lacking

I've been following him since his rookie year and Devon Allen legit got the worst luck in sports.

* In his first season he was one of Oregon's top receivers until he got injured on the opening kickoff of the Rose Bowl, part of 4 of the Ducks's top 5 WRs missing the NCG against tOSU, which Oregon lost late in part because Mariota was basically setting the ball in recievers' hands and they couldn't catch it. Devon struggled to recover from the injury and was of limited effectiveness the next two years.

* Won the USA 110m hurdles championship in 2016 but finishes 5th in the 2016 Olympics, missing the podium by just 0.2 seconds

* Won the USA 110m hurdles championship in 2018 but finishes 4th in the 2021 Olympics, missing the podium by just 0.04 seconds

* Sets the American record in the 110m hurdles in 2022 but is DQ's from the 2022 World Championships, false-starting by just 0.001 seconds


It's like he's steadily finding ways to get his heart broken by smaller and smaller margins. There's an alternative reality where he has a national title in football, two Olympic medals, and a world championship.
