A staggering 89 more people have died as provincial health officials confirmed 3,519 new cases, surpassing the previous record high of 3,363 cases on Saturday.

The previous record for daily deaths came on May 9, 2020, when 59 deaths were reported.

A total of 4,856 people have now died in Ontario from the virus. The majority of them (2,928) were living in long-term care.

Most of the new COVID-19 cases are in Toronto (891), followed by Peel Region (568), and York Region (457), Windsor-Essex County (208), Waterloo (175), and Durham (174).
