Born in Montreal, moved to Jane and Wilson at 4, moved to Brampton at 11, moved to Vaughan at 14, moved back to Brampton at 18. University in Ottawa for 5 years. Moved back home when I lost my job and apt in 2017.
clearly I have issues with locations as I’ve never really settled in one location more than like 5 years.

Only ways you can meet people is parties and clubs. I do neither of those things.
Ahhh so you’ve moved around a lot and been in the inner suburbs—I would probably not like it either. Especially Brampton and Vaughan which I’m not fond of (ESPECIALLY Brampton). I been close to the downtown core most of my life so that probably informs a lot of my experience. There’s always something to do downtown and lots of interesting people to meet.
This is why I think having access to downtown things is so important. I know with COVID things are a lot different but there are always things happening where you can meet people:
-book readings
-poetry slams
-art galleries
-advocacy spaces and social justice events
-festivals
-trainings
-conventions for different hobby communities
-fitness groups
-dance and/or theatre groups
-health/mental health groups
I engage in most of the above now that I don’t go clubbing much anymore (married) and I’m always meeting interesting people. Again, I know that it’s harder cuz covid but I know a lot of these spaces have taken their programming online.

I always found it interesting when ppl rap about crime and murdering nikkas but act like they’re victimized when the police or rivals catch up with them.
And every Toronto rapper have the same video:

-rapper in the hood with their ppls
-lighting up blunts in down jackets and snap backs/fitteds
-drinking and smoking in metro housing apartments/townhouses
Anyway I don’t know who these nikkas are but I hope they’re successful and provide positivity (which they said they want yet...they carry themselves how they do, including the music they make).
