If you want to move to Canada DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT move to Toronto. Live AT LEAST 2 hours or more away if you want to survive and be less stressed. IT's the worst city on the PLANET for a social life. WOAT. So couple that with the economy and you'll feel like you need therapy. Better you get a wfh job and go Portugal

doesn't matter will still be expensive. That's why I say toronto is the woat

at least NYC is expensive but you can live in parts of jersey and its cheap and still easy to get to nyc
London expensive but you can live in like kent or whatever and much more affordable

Toronto? You live in kitchener, waterloo, peterborough, oshawa, bracebridge, hamilton etc. places like a hour plus away and all you're saving on rent is a few hundred a month

hell sudbury avg rent is 2,000 a month :dahell:
As of October 2024, the average rent for a 1 bedroom in Guelph, ON is $2,044 per month.

ish is absurd

Yeah traffic is HORRID, it makes you not even want to go out anywhere and teh crazy thing it doesn't even matter what time. I remember even before covid it wasn't this bad as in I used to go to niagara falls and could leave like 11am on a friday and be there in a hour and change, now even 11am the 401 is jam packed, 6am jam packed, 8pm jampacked.

And yeah the demographics, and I do agree with you where have all the white folks gone? Outside of the super rich areas like the rosedales etc. they are pretty much non existent.

And the thing is white folks would at least rent to you and hire you. Every job I had a white person hired me, these indians ain't hiring black folks.

Toronto has always been cold but its gotten worst. Thats why I love my Uganda everybody I see says hi.

Homeless everywhere and they just get shuffle to left right and center. City was giving refugees shelter before but that has been taken away. Mental health lack of resources, doug ford aint spending money where it needs to be spent. Alot of these mental health people just need treatment or a therapist.

And yes crime is on fire and young folks know they can get away with it, they can steal a car rob a jewelery store and be released on bail and evne when sentenced its like probation or a few months.

The cdn dollar lowest its been in almost a decade, unemployment high as hell. I remember being young and you could just walk into a mcdonalds or some call center fil in a job application and easy, now?

Not to mention everything takes so long and never any accountability. These LRTS should have been running years ago what the hell is the holdup
Hmmmm scamming it all time high

I was thinking more Woodstock, Simcoe, Ingersall(sp?) or Kingston

But honestly the better growth and social life is lowkey happening in New Brunswick and the praries. IT's low key but people want to connect in those places.

Still like I said you'll be saving like a few hundred a month in rent. And that savings is gone becaus those places you need a car/gas/insurance and you're job will prob be like a hour away if you gotta commute wasting away on the 401.

You got people living in boston who go to nyc for work because of how the train is set up. I remember going to london first time I went i stayed in central london and it was pricy, after that I stayed way way far away in some hick ass place but it was right by a tube station and i got into central london in 45 min.

Ontario? good luck. The go , via rail are slow

The thing is all these idiots opened the barn door and let everything run free and a check for years and now with low approval ratings trying to reign it in.

For years people been talking about diploma mills etc., lmia fraud but we were called racists etc. diversity is our strength bla bla. Took away the visa from mexicans and had a influx come here claim refugee status, just go to keele and wilson, jane and wilson and they are all in the parking lots. Allowed tourists to come here and turn thier tourist visa to work visa :dahell:.

Allowed all these nigerians, kenyans, ugandans to come here on tourist visa for some bs conferences and then claim refugee status and it screws over legit folks. I couldn't even get a tourist visa for my fiance (now wife) last year because they said she wouldn't go back, even though I provided 5 pay stubs, she provided letters etc. but they allow all these fraudsters in without blinking a eye.

Every system is bursting at the seams because you brought in too many people and did not build more hospitals, more schools etc.

Interesting. Many of you in the thread seem to hate living in Toronto/Canada in general lol.

I know about the issues that Toronto is dealing with (the housing crisis being a big one), but even with the flaws, I'm still interested in moving to Toronto (Canada in general). America is not for me (at least not in the long term).

We are run by a demon (Trudeau). Toronto paid the biggest price under Trudeau

The damage they have done is unquantifiable. We will be paying for it for a long time.

Thanks breh. I appreciate it.

And yeah, Toronto likely wouldn't be my final destination, but it would be the stepping stone.

quick sand trap, dont do it

You sound like Travis Hunter right now, not listening. Knowing about something and living it are 2 different things. I LIVED it. I've lived in America and Canada and T.O. is the worst. Trust me you will be mad at yourself for this decision. Move anywhere in Canada but that city. It's socially disgusting bro.

You're lucky you have the option. I would never leave america for canada.

Getting paid in usd>>>>>

Also jobs in IT pay much much more in US than Canada

but hey you live once
Yeah, I know that IT jobs pay more here than in Canada. That's why I'm creating my online business so that I wouldn't have to rely on being paid in Canadian dollars (if I do end up moving).

Toronto is the only realistic option for me if I move to Canada.

Nothing is final yet though. A move to Canada is still at least a couple years away (and depends on a lot of factors).

Toronto was already on life support and COVID killed it. I'm convinced, most young people are trying to leave.

100k cad = 70k USD is crazy, then you add all the taxes. Canadian dollar expected to drop even further next year

Cost of a home Is 800k+ and that's an hour abd a half outside the city. Cheapest condo is what? 500k and that's for a shoebox.

There's no way I could start a family in this city, I'm glad I have no kids, so I still have options.
