For those that want me to elaborate, we have so many problems that have been self-inflicted.

  • The traffic is atrocious. Mostly self-inflicted
  • I'm a black breh but sometimes feel like I live in a different country. Place is way too segregated. White people truly are minorities in the city. They have their pockets but that's just weird. I don't really see more black people either. Just a gang of Indians and Arabs.
  • There is a lack of civility, a coldness that I see now. Just weird vibe.
  • Construction everywhere to build what? More shytboxes that no one can afford.
  • My kid went to take some pics with Santa...Santa barely made a peep..looked fed up, spent..this was in the morning.
  • Many closed down businesses
  • Many understaffed buinesses
  • Cost of shyt is insane.
  • Foodbank use at record highs
  • So many scam artists
  • Homeless everywhere
  • Mental health issues everywhere
  • No identity, just a city that exists

It's a Canadian problem really, but it has really impacted Toronto and Ontario really. Our healthcare system, transit system, law enforcement. Crime is on fire! I hear too many stories of people I know moving away. Employment for youth is shyt. Schools who exploited international students now having to lay off staff and cut classes as the money simply isn't there. Our mayor is a flipping moron. This city is done...Ford is an asshat, Trudeau is holding the country hostage.. Jagmeet is a coward. This city is done for a long time. It will never be on the level it was in the mid 2010. Completey ruined and it's no easy fix.

And we haven't even gone through the recession yet + tarrifs. It's going to get worse.
Perfectly summed up. All those are reasons I actually stay home....everytime I have to go out and do errands beyond my neighbourhood knowing I have to drive or take transit a long distsnce somewhere I just get anxious and depressesed cause I kmow my day is shot.. :francis: .......30-40 mins taking the steeetcar from King n Jameson to Bathurst n King.....:francis: I done checked out and just count8ng down the days for my exit....:snoop:

Why Canada?
*I have some family that lives in Canada

*Canada would provide me with a very similar lifestyle to America. So not much adjustment.

*Canada is generally cleaner and safer than America.

*American politics is much worse than Canada's (though Canadian politics isn't great either lol).

I've looked at other countries but they either have the same problems as Canada, are harder to move to, or I don't have much interest in them.

depending on what you intend on doing for work really matters tho

our economy is MUCH slower than the US so unless you coming here to work in a career in STEM or construction or healthcare it might not be financially better

Interesting. Many of you in the thread seem to hate living in Toronto/Canada in general lol.

I know about the issues that Toronto is dealing with (the housing crisis being a big one), but even with the flaws, I'm still interested in moving to Toronto (Canada in general). America is not for me (at least not in the long term).

If you want to move to Canada DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT move to Toronto. Live AT LEAST 2 hours or more away if you want to survive and be less stressed. IT's the worst city on the PLANET for a social life. WOAT. So couple that with the economy and you'll feel like you need therapy. Better you get a wfh job and go Portugal

I work in software development/IT.

Anyway, I'm setting up my online business right now. I'm trying to be self-employed. Waiting to see how things shake out 🤞

Dope yeah hope it works out dude.

A close friend of mine is in software dev as well but I think mainly on the app side of things (not 100% sure) and he’s made a pretty dope career for himself

But I would also agree that if you come here, leave the city of Toronto alone for your benefit lol. There’s places like Kitchener, Barrie or areas along the GO Train line that are still pricey but slightly more affordable than the city.

Thanks breh. I appreciate it.

And yeah, Toronto likely wouldn't be my final destination, but it would be the stepping stone.

t-dot till they bury me
Trudeau even tossing Freeland to the wood chipper
Freeland completed a bachelor's degree at Harvard University, studying Russian history and literature before earning a master's degree in Slavonic studies from the University of Oxford. She worked as a journalist in Ukraine and eventually held editorial positions at the Financial Times, The Globe and Mail and Reuters, becoming managing director of the latter. She also authored Sale of the Century: Russia's Wild Ride from Communism to Capitalism (2000) and Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else (2012).

seems well equipped to be leading the Country's finances :heh:

Yeah traffic is HORRID, it makes you not even want to go out anywhere and teh crazy thing it doesn't even matter what time. I remember even before covid it wasn't this bad as in I used to go to niagara falls and could leave like 11am on a friday and be there in a hour and change, now even 11am the 401 is jam packed, 6am jam packed, 8pm jampacked.

And yeah the demographics, and I do agree with you where have all the white folks gone? Outside of the super rich areas like the rosedales etc. they are pretty much non existent.

And the thing is white folks would at least rent to you and hire you. Every job I had a white person hired me, these indians ain't hiring black folks.

Toronto has always been cold but its gotten worst. Thats why I love my Uganda everybody I see says hi.

Homeless everywhere and they just get shuffle to left right and center. City was giving refugees shelter before but that has been taken away. Mental health lack of resources, doug ford aint spending money where it needs to be spent. Alot of these mental health people just need treatment or a therapist.

And yes crime is on fire and young folks know they can get away with it, they can steal a car rob a jewelery store and be released on bail and evne when sentenced its like probation or a few months.

The cdn dollar lowest its been in almost a decade, unemployment high as hell. I remember being young and you could just walk into a mcdonalds or some call center fil in a job application and easy, now?

Not to mention everything takes so long and never any accountability. These LRTS should have been running years ago what the hell is the holdup
