The issue is TFW and student visas have become a de-facto fast track to PR and government has very little visibility on volume they’re admitting in both streams. Almost an unofficial guest worker program at this point, that allows businesses to keep service sector and other lower skilled labour wages low.

The thing is canada should only be plucking the brightest folks for immigration. Look at all the nigerians and other africans that you see over here that didn't come in through scam measures. They are young, educated, speak english and can adapt to society.

Hard to dispute any of this. There is also massive profit across the whole chain, with immigration consultants, university/college recruiters, and other middle men all making a killing from start to finish. Even the established public universities/colleges are deeply reliant on international student tuition for operating revenue now, so keep lobbying to keep the door open.

Yup Canada has the same amount of international students as America to put that into context.

The difference is when you go to schools in uk and America staying after and getting residence isn’t as easy as it is in Canada

Policy change that allowed students to get PR just by working certain number of hours was disastrous. Opened up door for diploma mills, essentially paying for your PR and fast entry through a fake degree.

Yup, also scrapping the only allowed to work 20 hours to 40 hours. Folks dont even go to school and just work full hours at dominoes, etc.

I noticed a huge difference from the recruiters contacting me last year to this year. I was laid off in Sept 2022, and got a job in Dec. I got hit up by 10 recruiters, and only one was outsourced from India. I put up my open to work on my LinkedIn a few months back because I'd like to move on from my current company, and every recruiter was outsourced from India. Who are they going to recommend to hire? Me or some other Indian person?
