TBH, I've never seen Canada's immigration policy and real estate being exposed to the level it is today. I think everybody woke up to how trash the Canadian system is, and I don't think many have the same love for Toronto like they used to. I can't recall the last time we've heard this many down about the country and Toronto.
The funny thing is, I know most countries would put a freeze or restrict immigration if it's gotten to a level where they can't handle it. I still don't understand why we don't at least due a merit-based system like getting skilled workers in sectors where we have a low supply.

Landlords can rent a house for 5k a month to 10 students attending a diploma mill

I rmemeber my friend getting a 2bdrm condo with two full washrooms one with a bathtub for 1,900
You could have got a 1bdrm for 1600
No diploma mill students or alot of immigrants coming
Few years later it's insane with no end in the site

Yeah, that's the major issue because there are no incentives for them to make changes due to being in corporation pockets behind closed doors and landlords are more likely to vote. Plus, we all know they won't put heavy taxes if a person owns multiple homes since many politicians will mess up their own money
