One way to drive down prices is to make it mandatory that in every condo going up in the city you have to alot ⅓ of the apartments to lower income rental units. Probably easier said than done, but no reason this is going on other than greed.

Hospitals, we have high vacancies. Plus all service jobs are unionized and bargaining coming up. Cleaners will prob soon be making 30 a hour

I used to work as a janitor right after Uni and I actually enjoyed it. If the pay bump is foreal I may have to look into this as a 2nd job

Currently cleaners start at step 1 and step 4 is after 3 years. But CUPE/opseu bargaining is up and we are preparing for a 3 dollar plus for each step
