Why is it neith the americans or canadians haven't mandated and subsidized the production and distribution of N95 masks within the first few months of this pandemic. we woulda had numbers like korea and them countries who based their interventions on science.

we wanna acquiesce to large pharmaceuticals telling us lies about immunity and transmission where we coulda mechanically prevented the infections of hundreds of thousands.

this planet is dooomed if we continue to defer to the interests of corporations.

Canada has completed building its vaccine plant in Quebec City but because of their slow ass regulatory process, they won't be actually manufacturing anything until end of 2023. The medicago vaccine is going to be manufactured in North Carolina instead first if it gets approved by Health Canada, and they still didn't approve Novavax yet. Novavax is the other company that's supposed to be manufactured here.

N95 masks and similar high quality masks were mandated and distributed in Germany and Austria for over the year and they’ve faced waves just the same:

A number of European countries have announced new mask recommendations and requirements, pushing aside fabric masks in favor of surgical masks or medical-grade respirators.

In Germany, the federal and state governments introduced measures last week making medical masks — identified as surgical masks or KN95 or FFP2 masks — mandatory in stores and on public transit. It also issued a recommendation that medical masks be worn whenever there is close or prolonged contact with other people, particularly in enclosed spaces.

FFP2 is a European standard promising filtration similar to that of N95 or KN95 respirators.

Hard fact is that nothing can stop COVID transmission, it’ll simply get less virulent over time from vaccine protection and/or natural immunity. Everything else is fools gold.
