The problem is giving them full authority to make decisions way outside their domain.
Their expertise is necessary, but they are issue focused, and even then they often disagree. But people have turned Trust the Science into a new age religious doctrine.
Politicians are the only people who should be making decisions on restrictions.They need advice from experts but they shouldn’t defer to them. Look at how John Tory has basically given up being Mayor
