i'm a Taika Thor guy, but Ragnarok shyts on this one.
They seemed pretty equal to me. I think it just the fact that you're seeing the same characters doing the same humor a second time causes it to lose it's magic. Guardians 2 had this same issue. How many comedy sequels are better than the originals? They usually work best as one offs because they inherently have diminishing returns and require new takes. Taika's style is not meant for doing 4 or 5 MCU movies like Russo's or something.

Seeing Russell Crowe in L&T felt pretty bizarre to me, and I couldn’t wait for his scenes to conclude whereas Goldblum’s portrayal as Grandmaster just came off naturally.
See, I enjoyed Crowe's Zeus, it oozed arrogance just as you would expect from someone in that position but with none of the gravity. Watching Thor experience "Don't meet your heroes" in realtime was also an important story point, showing his personal growth since this was the guy he modeled himself after.

Either way, he was only in the film for a few minutes so I guess it doesn't matter.

This should sum up love and thunder

I don't remember any jokes about cancer and cancer was a topic of the movie, therefore the movie wasn't completely devoid of any non humorous moments. I can understand wanting a more serious movie, but it is a lie that it was non stop jokes. It wasn't, I thought they treated their love story respectfully as well.

Read the tweet: it says cancer and children being kidnapped were serious issues. However the tone of the movie, considerably downplayed the severity of said issues.

And I am saying the movie didn't have just one tone. While mostly comedic it had serious moments.
