I'm disappointed in this show. We need a TV series that focuses strictly on the drug cartels and the conflicts at the Mexican/US borders with DEA. Like THE WIRE. This show ain't near THE WIRE, because the characters aren't interesting outside of RUIZ.

Except the Wire didn't just focus on the drug dealers. It was about Baltimore; the streets, the schools, the docks, the politics, all of it.

Though this show is doing something similar by focusing on US/Mexico relations and how Mexicans dying is taken a lot more lightly than white folks dying. I will so that comparing almost any new show to the Wire is pointless. It's like comparing every new gangster film to The Godfather.

I didn't mean just the drug trade. But how the massive drug business is taking it's tow on the border towns. I don't like the serial killer angle. And the drug war and how it affected the institutions of Baltimore, leading to decay, corruption, and a failing system was a major storyline of THE WIRE. That story was able to unfold and be told through the eyes of the war on drugs. I'm a Wire vet, so you ain't schooling me.

This is only the 4th episode though. The serial killer angle could just be a season long thing and the next season could deal with the cartels. They're already introducing a couple cartel characters (Fausto's a dope character) and the tunnel subplot could keep them relevant. They're also gonna address the immigration issue with the rancher.

I wasn't really feeling the serial killer angle until last night. They're using the killer to expose the inequalities and differences in morality on each side of the border. I like that kinda stuff.

Really enjoyed last night's episode. I was thinking about giving up on the show cause of the lead, but FausGawd got me to stick around :blessed:

You expect them to do this in 4 episodes?

I'm watching this on demand and so far episode 4 caught my interest. I may continue to watch if I can remember it comes on Wednesday night, its not a must see like the other shows I watch.
