You're both right to a degree. I've personally witnesed Justin Wong get a 40 plus win streak with Team Army (Charlie, Guile, Cammy), beating the brakes off people's tournament S tier teams like it was nothing, until the tournament started, then he bodied us all with a serious or mostly serious team. Some people are just ifted, or are character specialists that defy the "matchup data".That's exactly what makes the game balanced brehthe best players are an aggregate of where characters rank.
Street Fighter 5 is the most balanced SF, and arguably the most balanced fighting game ever made. Check a top 32 in any tournament and you'll see more of the cast than you would in ANY other fighting game. Sf5 is built so that the entire cast can eat if you construct a clean enough offense
And you can't say any of those characters were dominating in 5 when you compare it to other fighting games. There were only 2 Akuma's ever worth talking about in the entire world. And even during his best Akuma run Tokido wasn't dominating anything. Bison was dominating? There is ONE Bison that ever wins anything and Problem has gotten washed plenty of times. Please show me this Bison dominance you speak of.
The case for SF5 balance IS the lack of dominance. After season one you didn't see nonsense like 4 of the same character in top 8. Luke is easily the best character in the game and even then you don't see Luke dominance the way Yun dominated SF4
You mentioned how the game plays in general but that's the entire point. SF5 cast can eat because the game is constructed to give every character access to momentum. That momentum turns a lot of people off but that's what gave the game variety of cast
That's how that bullshyt Roll Canceling got into CVS2. The pros Capcom hired to test it found it, and decided not to report the bug to save it for Nationals. I personally think RC ruins the game to a degree, which is a testament to how good the game is, because it's still one of their best.Yea they would hide tech and ironically enough Japan was hiding tech from them

I actually don't really have an issue with Luke. His SF6 design is a lot better (give that nikka some shoes tho) than before. Wasn't the biggest fan of Luke in SFV, but a lot of that came down to my annoyance in fighting him. Ed is whatever to me. I was more of a fan of Falke than Ed. Can't wait to see how a lot of these new characters play.
