Goku doesn't want to be stronger, he just loves the fight and the challenge of stronger opponents. Getting stronger is just a by product of that.

Goku is a savant when it comes to combat, Vegeta is not. Vegeta started out with a edge, lost that edge and the only reason he's still as powerful as he is is because he constantly pushes himself.


So ken is more like Goku who just likes the fight and doesn't really care about becoming stronger.

And Ryu is like Vegeta who wants to grow become the best and overcome the "darkness" that haunts him.

It's future metro city and all, but gills gonna have to really futurize metro city for it to be him. There's also the other members of the team to account for too. Mack could possibly exist already. Ginzu is the next head of bushin Ryu, and unless guys passed the title on, he's probably not around yet. And baby can be born anytime, so hes the easiest to deal with
