Any reason the BGS kobe went for almost 100k more than the PSA?
It was $50K, not 100. BGS 10s usually carry a premium over PSA 10s as they're generally far and few between. BGS 9.5s are the comparison to PSA 10s.

Given that PGI isnt as valuable as PSA or SGC, does it make sense to buy a card from them, crack it and resend somewhere else?

I decided to buy a few packs, and got a Quickley holo rookie.:ehh:

Apparently the blue trim is rarer than the purple so ill take it.

Dont know if this luka Gold Team holo is worth anything either.
People typically send to off brand grading companies instead of PSA/BGS for a reason.

Agreed. Luka hype has done a number for the industry in general. And not just him, but Zion as well. Everyone across the board is undervalued when compared to Luka at this point.

Luka has 2-3 titles and 2-3 MVPs baked into his pricing already.

I think the main reason that fast break neon is so valued is because it’s /5. And Prizm. You combine low numbered print and Prizm and people don’t know how to act.

If this hobby boom over the last 18-24 months tells me anything, it’s that Jordan is still criminally undervalued. Even those mid-late 90s inserts.

@Codeine Bryant i was listening to The Fan the other day they mentioned a place in Allen that was getting some industry rep for pricing cards. I didn’t catch the name of the place, are you familiar? I think I need to dust of my binders and get them looked at.
Nah, I have no familiarly with Allen.

I haven’t been to Dallas since the 2011 Finals breh. And moved away even before that.

Only card shop I’m familiar with in DFW is the sports memorabilia and card shop in Grapevine Mills mall that I used to go and just stare at things behind the counter before my mom told me she wasn’t buying me any of that shyt

:mjcry:

I assume the industry rep would be from
PSA or BGS. Probably BGS raw card review.

Get them binders out, breh. You could be sitting on a little bit of cash.

@Codeine Bryant you still buy packs ore are you mostly after graded cards with appreciable potential?
I haven’t bought a pack in forever. Can’t find any. I used to stop by Wal-Mart and Target on my way in/from work. Never found any packs. Gave up on that endeavor.

I just buy graded and sometimes the occasional raw card now.

Packs are hard to find, plus you don’t know what you’re getting. That pack rush when you open sealed is fun and addicting, though. But it just makes more sense to spend the bread to get the exact card you want at this point.

It's an article on the outlook of select vs prizm and the rarity going forward.

2 Reasons Why Panini Select Will Overtake Prizm As The Flagship NBA Card Set

Thoughts?

I've thought for 2 years now that Select is nicer than Prizm and is crucially undervalued.

Like you said, the print run is a fraction compared to Prizm. Helped in large part to the fact that Select is Hobby only.

Select is definitely on the come up. We saw it with Optic in 2019-2020. Select has been gaining steam and still has a lot more room to grow, imo.

Prizm base is the most overrated, overpriced, and overcollected trash in the hobby, imo. But Prizm is king...

At the end of the day, Select is just another Chrome product in an endless cycle of them: Prizm, Optic, Select, Certified, Spectra, Contenders Optic. The three levels of different cards hurts the base ones but the Courtsides are the best buy in the hobby for RCs, imo. They're picking up a lot of steam but could be insanely pricey in the future because of their low print runs.

From 2017 on is when they hit their stride. That's when they dropped the checkerboard/xfractor pattern on the Silvers but they still have it on the Copper/Tie-Dye/Gold/Black Prizms. I wish they would get rid of it entirely.

How it works: Alt aims to make trading cards a more manageable asset by giving customers a simple way to buy, sell, track and store them.

  • Portfolio management: Customers can easily upload their card collections and track their portfolio value in real-time.
  • Real-time valuation: Alt's proprietary "Alt Value" will allow collectors to get real-time data on how much their cards are worth.
  • Vault: Each customer's collection is securely stored in Alt's "vault," which is free for the first three months.
  • Low fees: Buying on Alt is free and transaction fees are just 1.5% of the total sale price, which is much lower than what eBay (12.5%) and some auction houses (12–25%) can charge.

Why trading cards are becoming the hot new investment asset
