@BucciMane I don't follow football that closely, but I think it's very reasonable to expect 6k with those 4 cards. That Herbert blue optic auto is a monster.

The rest of the cards, I have no idea about.

Not a bad strategy if you're trying to upgrade to a next level card. Good luck breh

I think my estimate for the first four I posted before the links are low. I think those are conservative estimates. The others will just be some extra cash on top. I think I may end up closer to $10,000 than $6,000, depending on how much the selects sell for.

I think the Herbert can definitely break $3,000. I'm trying to do what I've said for a while which is just go for bigger cards and hold for a while. It will be an investment and a hedge against the stock and crypto markets.

That's ironic because I'm basically in the exact opposite boat. Been loading up on more ETH, ADA, and various ETFs this year as a hedge against my cardboard.

I'm very overleveredged into cards, mainly Luka, and it's resulted in an almost complete dead stop on any purchases this year.

I've bought 4 cards this year and none since April.

2019 One and One Luka Downtown
2020 Immaculate Joe Burrow Premium Patch Gold /25 RPA
2007 Topps Variation Kevin Durant RC PSA 10
2018 Chronicles Luka Crusade Blue /99 PSA 10

Haven't been following much since around March of this year. Hoping the market starts to pick back up with NFL playoffs and the meat of NBA season arriving shortly

I guess I would reword it and not say it's a hedge, but I want to diversify a little bit more. I've been very fortunate with my portfolio over the past year or so that buying some of these cards is a small percentage of my portfolio, but I'd like to continue to diversify a little. It would be different if I planned on selling the bigger cards soon, but the ones I have now and the Lamar that's arriving are holds for me. I don't think I would sell them unless I could get a 3x return on them.

My Murray card sold for $800.

Mahomes Gold optic/10 sold for $1,400

Hurts Purple Prizm sold for $500

Herbert did not hit the reserve which surprised me. The Herbert /99 went for more than what my card hit as a max bid.

Both my Mahomes and Lamar select card failed to reach the reserve number as well.

I think I'm going to relist with no reserve

@Regular_P

From what you've seen in terms of NFL cards, is there a big difference between a PSA 10 and a BGS 9.5? There is a BGS 9.5 for a Lamar Kaboom that is priced much better than a few PSA 10's that I see.

2018 Panini Kaboom LAMAR JACKSON Rookie #34 BGS 9.5 GEM MINT RC - SP - LOW POP | eBay

2018 KABOOM LAMAR JACKSON Rookie PSA 10 - RAVENS | eBay

The second one is one of the PSA 10's. There are a few others listed, and I've offered even more than what the current "buy it now" is for the BGS 9.5.

Worth going BGS 9.5 over a PSA 10 here?

If I have a choice, I'm always going with a PSA 10, especially over a BGS with one subgrade below 9.5.

Ebay can take weeks for you to get your money?:why: .

I thought I get paid almost right away.:stopitslime:.
Their system is bullshyt. I miss Paypal integration. I got my money immediately with them. :francis:

It's usually 3-4 business days for me now with eBay.

People really love slurping on these actually rookies, don't they?:mjtf:.

I'm looking these Mac Jones Kaboom cards, and these raw ones are at $2,800.:why:. I paid $2,500 or so for my Lamar Jacksom 2018 Kaboom PSA 10 and this card is going for more than that?:dwillhuh:.

Why would I pay that for these raw rookie cards when I can buy a Lamar one for cheaper? A player that is electric, has one an MVP, and may win more as his career progresses. And, he's not even "old".

And, maybe I'm off-base here, but if I'm looking at risk/reward for these cards, I really feel like Lamar is a better option than many other players.

Less than Mahomes, Herbert, and Kyler, but is established.

Not as risky as Mac, Lawrence, Fields, and some of these other rookies.

I feel like he's still a top tier QB, has proven himself, and isn't as "risky" as some of these other young QB's, all while being priced better than some of the other "top" QB's.

Always been like this. Look at Mahomes' prices compared to Brady's. They've come down a little but comparable inserts from recent years have been close in price between the two. If Mahomes has a Peyton-like career, he'd be considered top-five but look at the price difference between Peyton and Brady.

Vets always end up being undervalued but it usually balances out over time.

In baseball, I think Trout is wildly overpriced compared to Pujols and Cabrera. Of course, the recent young guys (Soto, Acuna, Ohtani, Guerrero, Franco, etc.) are even more overpriced in comparison.

I guess I'm just really surprised that a young MVP QB that has a rookie Kaboom PSA 10 is going for less than a raw rookie ungraded Kaboom.

Things have changed a little but before last season, a PSA 10 National Treasures Russell Wilson RPA went for less than a Lamar Jackson one (might have even been a BGS 9.5 Lamar). Russ is having a down year but he's on track for a top ten QB career ever if he's not already there. Let that marinate.
