Sure... no sure how that one store doing this validates Marx anyway tho... also does the private sector charity during these times of crisis invalidate his arguments? Or does this Marxist stuff only flow one way?:jbhmm:
It’s just a tweet but private charity only goes so far when a Republican government has largely abandoned its people.

I was more bothered by the cops guarding literal trash that people could have used though.

Am reading Adorno and Horkkeimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment and pulling out passages. Some interesting stuff considering it was written in 1947...

"Public life has reached a state in which thought is being turned inescapably into a commodity and language into celebration of the commodity"

“The increase in economic productivity which creates the conditions for a more just world also affords the technical apparatus and the social groups controlling it a disproportionate advantage over the rest of the population. The individual is entirely nullified in face of the economic powers. These powers are taking society’s domination over nature to unimaginable heights. While individuals as such are vanishing before the apparatus they serve, they are provided for by that apparatus and better than ever before. In the unjust state of society the powerlessness and pliability of the masses increase with the quantity of goods allocated to them.”

Desperate times, desperate measures. But if those people were allowed to dumpster dive for food and got sick, then the restaurant(s) would be liable. And you know those people would sue. So yeah, dumpster guard duty it is. :francis:

EDIT: Fred Meyer should have donated that food instead of throwing it out. dikk move by him.
