Yeah sure.

The Other Slavery
Open Veins of Latin America
Capitalism & Slavery
The Dawning of the Apocalypse: The Roots of Slavery, White Supremacy, Settler Colonialism, and Capitalism in the Long Sixteenth Century
The Apocalypse of Settler Colonialism: The Roots of Slavery, White Supremacy, and Capitalism in 17th Century North America and the Caribbean
How Europe Underdeveloped Africa
Black Skin, White Mask

I would suggest reading the books in that order. In my opinion, these books are foundational texts. What you'll find after reading these books is that most people you engage with don't actually know any history. They're just trying to use their schooling to outsmart you.

None of these books delve into the political theory of socialism or communism. First, because you need to have foundational understanding of history to pivot on or else you just become a fanboy of charismatic personalities. Second, because as Marx even states, his inspiration came from studying indigenous history. So, you need to kill your belief that the way humans act now, is the way humans have always acted, by killing your misunderstanding of modernity and capitalism.

We can tag up as you go through each one if you want to talk or if you have questions.

@staticshock actually hold off on reading Black Skin, White Mask with that group of books. Replace it with The Rise of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade in Western Africa, 1300-1589 (African Studies). That book adds more context that you're going to need to understand the formation of the negro. I apologize. Also add An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States.

So with those additions, the books I gave you speak on the Spanish, English, and Portuguese. I unfortunately can't recommend anything right now on the Dutch expansion into Indonesia or Spanish conquest of India. The 2 Gerald Horne books I posted lay the foundation for the Dutch expansion though. You have to, HAVE TO, understand the importance of the Portuguese and Spanish in this conversation.

With regards to the French, over the next 2 weeks I should be done reading A Fair Country: Telling Truths About Canada and The French In North America: 1500 -- 1783. I'll let you know which one is best to begin with.

When you're ready then we can jump into leading pan-african socialist and communist voices like Nkrumah, Sankara, Cabral, Paul Robeson, Du Bois, Claudia Jones, Steve Biko, etc.

Anybody in here involved with their local DSA chapter? The one in my city is pretty active so I’m planning to attend some of their upcoming events.

whqt type of activities do they do?
They’ve been going to door to door talking to people at risk for evictions and letting them know about tenants’ rights. They have also been campaign for defund the police and doing a lot of outreach.

Wouldn't an unprecedented snowstorm be a good time to put people over profits? :jbhmm:
Sure... no sure how that one store doing this validates Marx anyway tho... also does the private sector charity during these times of crisis invalidate his arguments? Or does this Marxist stuff only flow one way?:jbhmm:
